What makes the Alfa Romeo 156 special
Alfa Romeo 156 remap: the GTA and the diesels
The GTA is the 3.2 V6 with 250 hp and 300 Nm, and, like every petrol 156, it has no turbocharger. It is a rare, hand-built version, assembled on its own line. A plug-in remap for the 156 therefore looks different for the GTA and for the diesels. The 156 is no longer sold new in Britain, so every car you find is a used one.
The 3.2 V6, the 2.5 V6 and the Twin Spark 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 take the GAN GA+. Twin Spark cars come with a cambelt and tensioner question, so check that service history before you fit anything. The JTD diesels, which arrived in 1997, take the GAN GT. That covers the 1.9 JTD with 105, 110 and 116 hp, the M-Jet with 140 and 150 hp, and the 2.4 JTD with 136 to 175 hp.

In the catalogue the 3.2 V6 goes from 250 hp and 300 Nm to 280 hp and 336 Nm with the GAN GA+. A V6 without a turbocharger takes the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12% more power. Unlike a flash remap, the GAN box doesn't rewrite your ECU software: the factory software stays untouched.
