Up to 30% more power for your Honda
Our Honda catalog covers 296 engines (models: 51, generations: 76). For 9% of the engines there are the GAN GT (up to 30% more power) and GAN GTL (up to 25%) tuning boxes; for the rest, the GAN GA and GAN GA+ (up to 12%). Each engine’s figures are on its own page.
Honda plug-in remap: no changes to the ECU software
The tuning box sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals – unlike a flash remap, which rewrites the ECU. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

Honda remapping: questions
How much more power does a Honda 2.2 i-DTEC get from the GAN GT?
At 150 hp and 350 Nm, the Accord VIII 2.2 i-DTEC reaches 193 hp and 445 Nm with the GAN GT. For this engine the CR-V III and IV and the Civic IX have the same figures. These are the stated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading of your own car. Two weak points on this diesel: the diesel particulate filter (DPF) clogs on short trips, and the flexible EGR bypass hose can crack. A tuning box doesn't clean a filter or replace a hose, so check both before you fit one.
What does the GAN GT add to the 1.5 VTEC Turbo of the Civic X and the CR-V V?
Both the 182 hp Civic X and the 193 hp CR-V V work with the GAN GT. The catalogue gain for the Civic is 52 hp and 72 Nm; for the CR-V it is 41 hp and 51 Nm.
What does a GAN GA+ add to a naturally aspirated i-VTEC engine?
In the catalogue, the 1.8 i-VTEC (142 hp) of the Civic IX gains 17 hp and 21 Nm, and the 2.4 i-VTEC (201 hp) of the Accord VIII gains 24 hp and 28 Nm. Both gains sit at the level of the GAN GA+, which gives up to 12% more power; that is why a naturally aspirated Honda adds less than a turbodiesel.
Honda diesel: ECU remap or tuning box?
A Honda can gain power in two ways. An ECU remap rewrites the factory software inside the engine control unit (ECU), whereas the GAN box sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. Factory software, checksums and flash counter are left as they were, and the engine's own protections stay active. Fitting uses the existing connectors, removal takes about a minute, and nothing is ever written to the ECU. Because the ECU software is never changed and the box can be removed at any time, your manufacturer's warranty is preserved.
Does a GAN tuning box affect my car insurance?
Tell them. A tuning box raises the output, and in Britain that is a declarable modification like any other performance change. Policies differ, so a quick call to your insurer before fitting is the safe route; the figures they will ask for are the stock and GAN outputs on your engine's page.
Will a tuning box affect my Honda warranty?
No. The box does not change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved. On top of that, we give an engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.
Tuning box or remap: which should I choose?
A flash remap permanently rewrites the maps in the ECU and leaves a trace in the flash counter. The GAN tuning box adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute. A flash remap can be the better choice if the engine has upgraded hardware, or if the car is out of warranty and you accept the risks.
Honda chip tuning: what to know about the engines
Honda remap or tuning box? Not every Honda is naturally aspirated
Not every Honda sold in Europe is a naturally aspirated petrol car, so a Honda Civic remap or tuning box starts with the engine. In Britain the current range includes the Civic, CR-V, HR-V, ZR-V and Prelude, while the Accord, S2000 and Integra are older cars. For Europe, Honda developed its own 2.2 diesel. Between 2004 and 2010 the 2.2 i-CTDi (N22A) made 140 hp, and from 2009 to 2015 the 2.2 i-DTEC (N22B) offered 150 to 180 hp. The 1.6 i-DTEC (N16), from 2013 to 2019, made 120 to 160 hp.
Every one of these diesels is turbocharged. March 2017 brought the 1.0 and 1.5 VTEC Turbo petrols with the Civic X, and the CR-V V picked up the 1.5 VTEC Turbo in the same year. Since the FK2 of 2015 the Civic Type R has been turbocharged, and Type S is a trim level rather than an engine. In Britain Honda generations are usually named by number or code, such as the tenth-generation Civic FK and the eleventh-generation Civic FL.
Petrol i-VTEC engines, and the hybrids
Before 2017, the Civic, Accord, CR-V and Jazz all used naturally aspirated petrols as their regular engines. The range starts at the 1.2 and 1.4 of the Jazz and the 1.4 and 1.8 of the Civic and runs up to the 2.0 and 2.4 of the Accord and CR-V. Europe's CR-V illustrates the change: the 1.5 VTEC Turbo replaced its naturally aspirated 2.0 and 2.4 petrols. Naturally aspirated even in the Civic VIII Type R: a 2.0-litre petrol with 201 hp.
In a Civic VII or VIII, an h or Hybrid in the name means an IMA hybrid on a 1.3 petrol engine. On those cars, find out whether a figure you are quoted is for the petrol engine alone or for the complete hybrid system. Today's Civic e:HEV and ZR-V e:HEV pair a naturally aspirated 2.0 petrol engine with two electric motors, so the turbo boxes described on this page do not apply to them. Honda UK quotes 184 hp and 315 Nm for the ZR-V e:HEV, and that is the whole hybrid system, not the petrol engine alone.

Which GAN box suits which Honda
Each engine in the catalogue has its box. The turbo engines, which means the diesels and the VTEC Turbo, take the GAN GT, rated at up to 30% more power; the naturally aspirated petrols take the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12%. With a Honda, the engine name decides the box. Accord VII and VIII, CR-V III and IV, Civic VIII and IX: on all of them the 2.2 diesel takes the GAN GT. The GAN GT also covers the 1.6 i-DTEC on the CR-V IV and the Civic IX and X.
The 1.5 VTEC Turbo, with 182 hp in the Civic X and 193 hp in the CR-V V, takes the GAN GT as well. The GAN GA+ is the box for petrol i-VTEC engines, for instance the 1.8 in the Civic IX and the 2.4 in the Accord VIII. To sum up, the engine code counts for more than the badge on a Honda.
Which Honda models are in the catalog
The catalog covers 51 models from Honda. The most engines are listed for the Civic (49), Accord (35) and CR-V (23). The biggest gain among the models is on the Civic: up to +52 hp.
Naturally aspirated Honda engines
For 268 naturally aspirated engines from Honda, there is the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% lower fuel consumption in ECO mode, which means better MPG. You can fit it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
