Chiptuning Opel
Up to 30% more power for your Opel
Our Opel catalog covers 317 engines (models: 22, generations: 39). For 67% of the engines there are the GAN GT (up to 30% more power) and GAN GTL (up to 25%) tuning boxes; for the rest, the GAN GA and GAN GA+ (up to 12%). Each engine’s figures are on its own page.
Opel plug-in remap: no changes to the ECU software
The tuning box sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals – unlike a flash remap, which rewrites the ECU. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

Opel remapping: questions
A14XER or A14NET: which GAN box fits, and how much do they gain?
The naturally aspirated A14XER takes the GAN GA+, the turbocharged A14NET the GAN GT. In the catalogue the Astra J 1.4 at 100 hp and 130 Nm becomes 112 hp and 146 Nm with the GAN GA+, and the 1.4 Turbo at 140 hp and 200 Nm becomes 181 hp and 260 Nm with the GAN GT. These are the stated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading from your own car.
Which GAN box fits the Fiat, Isuzu and Opel CDTi diesels?
A CDTi is always a turbodiesel, so most take the GAN GT, with separate figures for each power output. The 1.6 CDTi comes in several outputs, for example 95, 110 and 136 hp in the Astra, so go by your car's standard hp figure. The catalogue includes the 1.3 CDTi at 95 hp, the 1.9 CDTi at 150 hp and the 2.0 CDTi at 160 hp.
Are the Karl, Cascada and Combo covered?
In the catalogue the Karl has one engine, the 1.0 petrol, which takes the GAN GA+. For the Cascada the catalogue lists the 1.4 Turbo at 120 and 140 hp, the 1.6 SIDI Turbo at 170 and 200 hp and the 2.0 CDTi BiTurbo, all matched with the GAN GT. The Combo comes with the 1.3, 1.6 and 2.0 CDTi and a 1.4 petrol. In Britain the Combo, like the Vivaro and Movano, is sold as a Vauxhall. The Frontera has no row in the catalogue.
Vauxhall remap or tuning box?
A remap rewrites the factory software; the GAN tuning box works between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals instead. The factory software, checksums and flash counter remain as they were, and the engine keeps all its factory protections. The box plugs into the existing connectors and comes off in about a minute, leaving no traces once it is removed. The ECU software is never changed and the box can come off at any time, so your manufacturer's warranty is preserved.
Do I need to tell my insurer about a GAN tuning box?
Yes. In the UK a power increase counts as a modification, and insurers expect to be told about it before you drive with the box fitted. Each insurer handles it differently, so check with yours first and quote the before-and-after output from your engine's page.
Will a tuning box affect my Opel warranty?
No. The box does not change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved. On top of that, we give an engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.
Tuning box or remap: which should I choose?
A flash remap permanently rewrites the maps in the ECU and leaves a trace in the flash counter. The GAN tuning box adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute. A flash remap can be the better choice if the engine has upgraded hardware, or if the car is out of warranty and you accept the risks.
Opel chip tuning: what to know about the engines
Vauxhall and Opel engines: read the engine name first
Before you look at a Vauxhall remap or tuning box, settle one question: is your 1.4 ECOTEC turbocharged or not? In Britain, Opel models were sold mainly as Vauxhalls. The name alone won't settle it, since ECOTEC is a trade name Opel and GM use for petrol and diesel engines alike. The engine code does: in the Astra J the 100 hp 1.4 is the naturally aspirated A14XER, and the 140 hp 1.4 Turbo is the A14NET.
Search for your car by its exact turbo badge, such as 1.4i Turbo or 1.6i Turbo, and not by the model name alone. In the code, the first letter tracks the engine generation (Z, then A, B and D) and the two digits are the capacity in tenths of a litre. A Vauxhall uses the same engine codes, because the British models share their technology with their Opel twins.
Petrol engines: what Turbo, SIDI, EDIT and Twinport tell you
In a petrol Opel or Vauxhall, Turbo in the name means exactly that: a turbocharger. The 1.6 SIDI Turbo is a direct-injection turbo engine offered with 170 or 200 hp. UK Astras have carried the 1.6i Turbo at 200 hp, the stronger of those two outputs. EDIT stands for ECOTEC Direct Injection Turbo; the 1.0 Turbo in the Adam, Corsa E and Astra K is one example.
Twinport is the opposite: an intake port system with flaps, found on the naturally aspirated 1.0, 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6 engines. The catalogue lists one engine for the Corsa F, launched in November 2019: the 1.2 Turbo, rated at 101 hp and 205 Nm. Most turbo engines suit the GAN GT, rated at up to 30% more power, and most naturally aspirated ones the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12%; the catalogue always settles which box fits your engine. OPC, Opel's performance division founded in 1997, built the Astra OPC at 240 and 280 hp and the Corsa OPC at 192 hp. In Britain they carry the VXR badge, so a Vauxhall Corsa VXR remap concerns the Corsa OPC.

Diesel engines: every CDTi is a turbodiesel
Opel's common-rail turbodiesels are all CDTi (written CDTI in the catalogue): the 1.3, 1.6, 1.7, 1.9 and 2.0, plus a 2.2, a 2.3 and a 3.0 V6 listed there. The makers differ: the 1.3 and 1.9 are Fiat Multijet engines, the 1.7 is an Isuzu and the 1.6 is Opel's own. In the Astra J from May 2014 Opel's own 1.6 CDTi is offered at 110 and 136 hp, and in the Astra K from July 2015 at 95, 110 and 136 hp. UK Astras have carried the 1.6 CDTi mainly in its 110 and 136 hp forms, so check which output is yours.
The 2.0 CDTi BiTurbo has twin turbochargers and 195 hp; it first appeared in the Astra J in November 2012 and the Cascada in January 2013. ecoFLEX is a badge for lower fuel use and CO2 output rather than an engine of its own. In the Astra J it appears on versions of the 1.4, the 1.6, the 1.3 CDTi, the 1.7 CDTi and the 2.0 CDTi.
Which Opel models are in the catalog
The catalog covers 22 models from Opel. The most engines are listed for the Astra (64), Corsa (44) and Zafira (36). The biggest gain among the models is on the Corsa: up to +59 hp.
Naturally aspirated Opel engines
For 101 naturally aspirated engines from Opel, there is the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% lower fuel consumption in ECO mode, which means better MPG. You can fit it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
How to find your Opel engine
Pick your model from the list above, then the generation by model year and chassis code, then the engine by the power output in your registration document. The engine page shows the exact gain and the price of the box.
