Chiptuning Nissan
Up to 30% more power for your Nissan
Our Nissan catalog covers 423 engines (models: 77, generations: 106). For 27% of the engines there are the GAN GT (up to 30% more power) and GAN GTL (up to 25%) tuning boxes; for the rest, the GAN GA and GAN GA+ (up to 12%). Each engine’s figures are on its own page.
Nissan plug-in remap: no changes to the ECU software
The tuning box sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals – unlike a flash remap, which rewrites the ECU. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

Nissan remapping: questions
How much does a Qashqai 1.6 dCi gain from a tuning box?
The Qashqai 1.6 dCi starts at 131 hp and 320 Nm and reaches 170 hp and 409 Nm with the GAN GT. These are the stated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading of your own car.
Is my Nissan turbocharged or naturally aspirated?
Read the end of the engine code: on the Micra and Qashqai, a final T means a turbo and a final R a supercharger. The HR16DE has neither, so it is naturally aspirated, whereas the MR16DDT ends in T and is a turbo. The version name helps too, since DIG-T and dCi both mean a turbo engine.
Which Navara 2.5 dCi versions does the GAN GT cover?
The D40 in its 171, 174 and 190 hp versions suits the GAN GT, as does the 3.0 dCi V6 at 231 hp. Choose by output and year: the D23 from 2015 has a different engine, the 2.3 dCi, and the catalogue covers only the 190 hp version.
Remap or tuning box for a Nissan dCi?
A remap works by replacing the factory software in the engine control unit, so it is a different method from a tuning box. The GAN box sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals, which leaves the factory software, checksums and flash counter as they were. Your manufacturer's warranty is preserved, because the ECU software is never changed and the box can come off at any time.
Will my insurer need to know about the tuning box?
Yes, declare it. British insurers treat extra power as a modification, so the safe course is to tell them before you fit the box. How they treat it varies from one insurer to another, so ask before you fit the box; the standard and tuned figures you will be asked for are on your engine's page.
Will a tuning box affect my Nissan warranty?
No. The box does not change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved. On top of that, we give an engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.
Tuning box or remap: which should I choose?
A flash remap permanently rewrites the maps in the ECU and leaves a trace in the flash counter. The GAN tuning box adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute. A flash remap can be the better choice if the engine has upgraded hardware, or if the car is out of warranty and you accept the risks.
Nissan chip tuning: what to know about the engines
Nissan remap: the engine code decides which box
Take two Qashqai engines of similar output: the 1.2 DIG-T of the second generation and the 1.6-litre petrol of the first. Yet a tuning box treats them as two different engines. A DIG-T in the version name marks a direct-injection turbo petrol, so the 1.2 DIG-T takes a different box from the 1.6-litre petrol of similar output. On a UK-market Nissan the DIG-T or dCi badge is the quickest pointer to the engine type, ahead of trim names such as N-Connecta or Tekna. On a Qashqai 1.2 DIG-T, have the timing chain and oil consumption checked before you fit anything.
Nissan engine codes work like this: letters for the family, then two digits for the capacity in decilitres. On Micra and Qashqai engines a final T means a turbo and a final R a supercharger, while the HR16DE, MR20DE, QR25DE and VQ35DE have neither and are naturally aspirated. The MR16DDT is a turbo engine; the QR25DER and HR12DDR have a belt-driven supercharger. DIG-S is the supercharged 1.2 petrol of the Micra and Note. Some of these engines are Renault units under another name: the HR16DE is the H4M, the MR20DE the M4R, the MR16DDT the M5Mt and the HR12DDT the H5Ft.
Nissan diesels: mostly Renault engines
Under the bonnet of a Qashqai, X-Trail or Juke, a dCi is a Renault engine: the 1.5 dCi is the K9K, the 1.6 dCi the R9M and the 2.0 dCi the M9R. Nissan's own diesel, the 2.5 dCi YD25DDTi, appears only in the Pathfinder and Navara. For any dCi the catalogue lists the GAN GT. That includes the Qashqai 1.5 dCi at 103 to 110 hp, the 1.6 dCi at 131 hp and the 2.0 dCi at 150 hp.
The GAN GT covers the X-Trail 2.0 dCi too, in its 150 and 173 hp versions. For a Nissan Navara remap the generation matters: the continental European D40 was built in Spain. The diesel choices are the 2.5 dCi in 174, 171 and 190 hp and the 3.0 dCi V6 at 231 hp. The D23 Navara was built in Barcelona until December 2021 and runs the 2.3 dCi in 160, 163 and 190 hp forms; the 160 and 163 hp versions have no row in the catalogue.

Petrol, hybrid and Nismo versions
Most dCi and DIG-T engines in the catalogue are matched with the GAN GT (up to 30% more power), while the naturally aspirated petrols are matched with the GAN GA+ (up to 12%). Nissan's e-Power system, on the Qashqai J12 and X-Trail T33, is a series hybrid. The petrol engine only drives a generator, so check the model page rather than assume a figure. A Juke Nismo or Nismo RS remap is covered by the GAN GT: both use the 1.6 DIG-T, at up to 218 hp.
Which Nissan models are in the catalog
The catalog covers 77 models from Nissan. The most engines are listed for the Pathfinder (22), Almera (20) and X-Trail (19). The biggest gain among the models is on the Juke: up to +82 hp.
Naturally aspirated Nissan engines
For 299 naturally aspirated engines from Nissan, there is the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% lower fuel consumption in ECO mode, which means better MPG. You can fit it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
How to find your Nissan engine
Pick your model from the list above, then the generation by model year and chassis code, then the engine by the power output in your registration document. The engine page shows the exact gain and the price of the box.
