Each engine has its own tuning box: GAN GT / GTL or GAN GA / GA+. Prices are per box and include the current discount.
Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone is not enough: in this generation, the same engine designation came in different power outputs, each with its own calibration. Check the power output in your registration document and find the matching row.

Nissan Versa remap: what changes
More power and torque without rewriting the ECU or swapping any parts. The GAN box only adjusts the engine sensor signals. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

What makes the Nissan Versa special
Nissan Versa remap and the European Tiida
In Germany the Tiida, the European counterpart of the Versa, was offered from January 2008, and Nissan stopped importing it in 2011 because demand was too low. The Versa itself was never a normal UK-market Nissan: the Note was sold in Britain instead, so a Versa here is an imported North American car. So a Versa remap or tuning box is about engines, not names: the box works with the engine and its output. German-market Tiidas had the 1.6 HR16DE (110 hp, 153 Nm) and the 1.8 MR18DE (126 hp, 173 Nm).
A five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic went with the 1.6; the 1.8 had a six-speed manual. Beyond Germany the Tiida could also be had with the Renault 1.5 dCi. The Versa is built around the same two engine families. In the American Versa the 1.8 MR18DE makes 122 hp as a hatchback and 124 hp as a saloon.
Working out which Versa engine you have
The Versa Note of 2013 to 2019 had the 1.6 HR16DE, with 109 hp and 145 Nm. The Versa saloon, launched a year earlier, used the same engine. The 2019 Versa III also has the 1.6 HR16DE, now at 122 hp and 155 Nm. That Versa III is built on the fifth-generation Micra and did not go to Europe.
Being naturally aspirated, the 1.6 limits the gain, with the GAN GA+ rated at up to 12% more power. The Versa Note was sold in Europe as the Note, with different engines, so a European Note does not match the American 1.6. In Britain the Note carried European engines, including 1.4 and 1.6 petrols and a 1.5 diesel, so advice for a Note does not carry over to an imported Versa. For an imported Versa, then, the engine code and the output decide, not the body style.
Nissan Versa remap: common questions
Which 1.6 does my Versa have: 109 hp or 122 hp?
The 109 hp engine, with 145 Nm, is in the earlier cars described above. The 122 hp engine, with 155 Nm, belongs to the Versa III, built since 2019.
Versa 1.6 remap: what does the 122 hp car gain with the GAN GA+?
As standard the catalogue lists 122 hp and 155 Nm, and with the GAN GA+ 137 hp and 174 Nm. The GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power, plus up to 15% lower fuel consumption if you drive economically. Those are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading from your own car.
Is the Versa 1.8 the same engine as the Tiida's?
Yes: both are the 1.8 MR18DE, which gives 126 hp and 173 Nm in the German Tiida.
Which GAN box suits the 109 hp Versa 1.6?
The 1.6 HR16DE, 109 hp and 145 Nm, takes the GAN GA+, which brings it to 122 hp and 162 Nm.
Do I need to tell my insurer about a GAN tuning box?
Tell them. A tuning box raises the output, and in Britain that is a declarable modification like any other performance change. Policies differ, so a quick call to your insurer before fitting is the safe route; the figures they will ask for are the stock and GAN outputs listed here.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
