Chiptuning KIA
Up to 30% more power for your Kia
Our Kia catalog covers 326 engines (models: 37, generations: 59). For 38% of the engines there are the GAN GT (up to 30% more power) and GAN GTL (up to 25%) tuning boxes; for the rest, the GAN GA and GAN GA+ (up to 12%). Each engine’s figures are on its own page.
Kia plug-in remap: no changes to the ECU software
The tuning box sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals – unlike a flash remap, which rewrites the ECU. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

What Kia owners say about GAN
Very simple installation. A simple and comfortable mobile App. Real increase in power in Dynamic mode. And even in ECO mode, the car runs faster with less fuel consumption. After Gan installation, I immediately tried the Dynamic mode. I got everything what I needed, the response of the acceleration pedal became…
The car has become much more dynamic, and this is not subjective point of view. As for fuel consumption, so I have not understand about it yet. I paid my attention to this box for a long time, resolved for it, and at this moment, I have no regrets. Installation took about 30 minutes; the main problem was to find a…
Kia remapping: questions
Kia remap or tuning box: what is the difference?
Computer tuning usually means an ECU remap, which rewrites the factory software in the engine control unit (ECU). The GAN box works between the engine sensors and the ECU, so the factory software, checksums and flash counter stay exactly as they were. Because the ECU software is never changed and the box can be removed at any time, your manufacturer's warranty is preserved.
What do the Sportage and Ceed diesels gain with the GAN GT?
With the GAN GT the Sportage IV 2.0 CRDi, rated at 185 hp and 400 Nm, reaches 237 hp and 505 Nm. The 1.6 CRDi of the Sportage IV (136 hp) gains 40 hp and 100 Nm, and the Sportage V with 115 hp gains 33 hp and 81 Nm. Treat these as the stated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading from your car.
Which Kia Carens versions are covered?
The 1.7 CRDi comes in three versions: 35 hp and 77 Nm for the 115 hp engine (116 hp in the catalogue), 40 hp and 90 Nm for the 136 hp engine, and 41 hp and 90 Nm for the 141 hp engine. All three versions take the GAN GT.
How much do the turbo petrol Kias gain?
In the Ceed GT (204 hp) the gain is 49 hp and 116 Nm in the second generation and 43 hp and 56 Nm in the third. For the Stinger the catalogue shows 42 hp and 60 Nm on the 2.0 T-GDI (247 hp) and 63 hp and 87 Nm on the 3.3 T-GDI (370 hp).
Do I need to tell my insurer about a GAN tuning box?
Tell them. A tuning box raises the output, and in Britain that is a declarable modification like any other performance change. Policies differ, so a quick call to your insurer before fitting is the safe route; the figures they will ask for are the stock and GAN outputs on your engine's page.
Will a tuning box affect my Kia warranty?
No. The box does not change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved. On top of that, we give an engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.
Tuning box or remap: which should I choose?
A flash remap permanently rewrites the maps in the ECU and leaves a trace in the flash counter. The GAN tuning box adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute. A flash remap can be the better choice if the engine has upgraded hardware, or if the car is out of warranty and you accept the risks.
Kia chip tuning: what to know about the engines
Kia remap or tuning box? The same engines as Hyundai
Kia and Hyundai build on the same engines, so what you learn about one carries over to the other. Both brands call their new engines Smartstream, a name used since 2018, with a letter for the fuel and a number for the displacement. Hyundai fits the same 2.2 CRDi family in the Santa Fe; in the Sorento it makes 197 hp in the II and 200 hp in the III. The Sorento IV comes with a 202 hp 2.2 CRDi, a 1.6 T-GDI hybrid or a plug-in hybrid.
In Britain Kia's specification page lists the Sorento hybrid at 235 hp and the plug-in hybrid at 283 hp, and those are system figures for the hybrid, not the petrol engine alone. The first Sorento launched with the 2.5 CRDi at 140 hp, rising to 170 hp after the September 2006 update. The 2009 Sorento II gained a 2.4 GDI with 192 hp with the 2012 update.
The Sportage, Ceed, Carens and Stinger engines
On the Sportage, look at the diesels first: the 1.7 CRDi (115 or 141 hp) and the 2.0 CRDi (136 or 185 hp). From 2018 a 1.6 CRDi with 115 to 136 hp was added. The 1.6 CRDi with 136 hp is also sold as a 48V mild hybrid called EcoDynamics+, with the same turbodiesel underneath. In the 2021 Sportage V you find the 1.6 T-GDI with 150 or 180 hp, and hybrids with 230 and 265 hp. Until 2018 the Ceed was written cee'd. Petrol engines in the Ceed are the 1.0 T-GDI and 1.4 T-GDI, and the GT adds the 1.6 T-GDI with 204 hp.
The 1.7 CRDi is available in the Carens compact MPV at 115, 136 and 141 hp. Two Carens generations followed each other: the UN from 2006 to 2013 and the RP until 2019. A Kia Stinger remap or tuning box starts with the 2.0 T-GDI of 245 hp (247 hp in the catalogue) or the 3.3 T-GDI V6 of 370 hp. Its 2.2 CRDi of 200 hp was sold until 2020. The ProCeed is a separate shooting-brake name, and American models such as the Forte, K5 and Telluride were never regular UK cars.

The engine name tells you the GAN box
The Kia range needs just two boxes. The GAN GT suits CRDi diesels and T-GDI petrols (up to 30% more power); the GAN GA+ suits naturally aspirated MPI and GDI engines (up to 12%). Read the letters in the name: a GDI without the T has no turbo, and an MPI is naturally aspirated, so the name tells you the box. The Sorento II with the 2.4 GDI of 192 hp is therefore a GAN GA+ car.
Because the mild hybrid system keeps the turbodiesel, the Sportage 1.6 CRDi mild hybrid still takes the GAN GT. What counts is the engine name and the output, not the badge on the boot.
Which Kia models are in the catalog
The catalog covers 37 models from Kia. The most engines are listed for the Sorento (36), Cee'd (34) and Sportage (34). The biggest gain among the models is on the Borrego: up to +67 hp.
Naturally aspirated Kia engines
For 200 naturally aspirated engines from Kia, there is the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% lower fuel consumption in ECO mode, which means better MPG. You can fit it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
How to find your Kia engine
Pick your model from the list above, then the generation by model year and chassis code, then the engine by the power output in your registration document. The engine page shows the exact gain and the price of the box.
