GAN tuning box for Ford

Ford plug-in remap: no changes to the ECU software

The tuning box sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals – unlike a flash remap, which rewrites the ECU. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

FAQs

Ford remapping: questions

What does the GAN GT add to a 1.0 EcoBoost?

The Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost with 125 hp is listed in the catalogue at 162 hp and 260 Nm with the GAN GT, up from 125 hp and 200 Nm. On the Focus Mk3 the 125 hp 1.0 EcoBoost has 170 Nm rather than 200 Nm, so its GAN GT figures are different. Ford UK also listed the Focus 1.0 EcoBoost at 125 hp and 170 Nm, the same as that Focus row; Focus production ended in November 2025. Take these as the stated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading from your car.

Do TDCi and EcoBlue diesels both take the GAN GT?

Yes. Both are diesels, so the GAN GT is the box for each. Which badge you have depends on the car and year: EcoBlue arrived on the Focus Mk4 in 2018, the Mondeo in February 2019 and the Ranger in 2019.

Is there a GAN box for the Duratec and Ti-VCT petrol engines?

Yes. The naturally aspirated Duratec and Ti-VCT engines, the Focus's 1.6 Ti-VCT for example, are matched with the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12% more power.

Tuning box or ECU remap on a Ford EcoBoost?

Remapping rewrites the factory software, whereas the GAN box sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. The factory software, checksums and flash counter stay exactly as they were, and the engine's own protections remain active. Take the box off and no traces remain, since nothing is ever written to the ECU. Because the ECU software is never changed and the box can be removed at any time, your manufacturer's warranty is preserved.

Should I declare the GAN box to my insurer?

Tell them. A tuning box raises the output, and in Britain that is a declarable modification like any other performance change. Policies differ, so a quick call to your insurer before fitting is the safe route; the figures they will ask for are the stock and GAN outputs on your engine's page.

Will a tuning box affect my Ford warranty?

No. The box does not change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved. On top of that, we give an engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.

Tuning box or remap: which should I choose?

A flash remap permanently rewrites the maps in the ECU and leaves a trace in the flash counter. The GAN tuning box adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute. A flash remap can be the better choice if the engine has upgraded hardware, or if the car is out of warranty and you accept the risks.

About Ford engines

Ford chip tuning: what to know about the engines

Ford remap or tuning box? It starts with the 1.0 EcoBoost

If you are weighing a Ford Fiesta remap or a tuning box, one small engine opens the subject: the 1.0 EcoBoost, a three-cylinder with 100, 125 or 140 hp. Since the September 2012 facelift the Fiesta has offered it with 100 and 125 hp, and with 140 hp since August 2014. The Puma has the 1.0 EcoBoost with 95 and 125 hp, the EcoSport Mk2 runs it too, and the Focus Mk3 has had it with 100 and 125 hp since March 2012. On the maintenance side, the 1.0 EcoBoost has a wet timing belt, so correct oil and a full service history matter; that is a maintenance point, not a tuning benefit.

Ford names engines by family: EcoBoost means a direct-injection turbo petrol, TDCi the Duratorq diesels, EcoBlue the newer diesels, and Duratec or Ti-VCT mostly the naturally aspirated petrols. Ford UK documentation labels generations by model year, such as Focus 2015, Fiesta 2017 and Mondeo 2014.75, alongside trims like Zetec, Titanium and ST-Line. For EcoBoost, TDCi and EcoBlue engines the box is the GAN GT, rated at up to 30% more power.

From TDCi to EcoBlue diesels

In cars the TDCi diesels run from 1.4 to 2.2 litres, some of them developed jointly with PSA, and the Ranger pickup adds 2.5, 3.0 and 3.2. In the Focus Mk3 the 1.5 and 1.6 TDCi made 95 to 120 hp and the 2.0 TDCi 115, 140 and 163 hp, with a 150 hp version added from September 2014. The Focus Mk4 (2018 onwards) uses the 1.5 EcoBlue at 95 and 120 hp and the 2.0 EcoBlue at 150 hp, and the Mondeo got the EcoBlue in February 2019. Mondeo Mk4 engines include the 2.0 EcoBoost with 203 and 240 hp as well as the 1.8, 2.0 and 2.2 TDCi with 100 to 200 hp.

Kuga II (2012 to 2019): the 1.6 EcoBoost with 150 and 182 hp, replaced from October 2014 by a 1.5 EcoBoost with the same outputs, and the 2.0 TDCi. A 2.0 EcoBoost with 242 hp joined it from autumn 2017. A Ford Ranger remap or tuning box today means the 2.0 EcoBlue, which the Ranger has used since 2019 with 130, 170 and 213 hp. The Transit also uses the 2.0 EcoBlue diesel in several power outputs, but those versions have no row in the catalogue yet.

Petrol without a turbo, plus the sporty versions

British owners name these cars by Mk number: the Mondeo Mk4, the Focus Mk3, and the Fiesta Mk7 and Mk8. A naturally aspirated 1.6 Ti-VCT with 85, 105 and 125 hp was available on the Focus Mk3. The Fiesta offered the 1.25 Duratec with 60 and 82 hp and the 1.6 Ti-VCT with 105, 120 and 134 hp.

For the sporty versions Ford turned to EcoBoost: the Fiesta ST with 182 hp from December 2012, the Focus ST with 250 hp from June 2012, and the Focus RS with 350 hp from 2016 to 2018. Only from the sixth generation has the Mustang been sold officially in Europe, with a 2.3 EcoBoost of 317 hp or a 5.0 V8 of 421 hp.

Which Ford models are in the catalog

The catalog covers 42 models from Ford. The most engines are listed for the Focus (64), Fiesta (52) and Mondeo (50). The biggest gain among the models is on the F-Series: up to +91 hp.

Naturally aspirated Ford engines

For 195 naturally aspirated engines from Ford, there is the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% lower fuel consumption in ECO mode, which means better MPG. You can fit it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
