Each engine has its own tuning box: GAN GT / GTL or GAN GA / GA+. Prices are per box and include the current discount.
Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone is not enough: in this generation, the same engine designation came in different power outputs, each with its own calibration. Check the power output in your registration document and find the matching row.

Ford Focus II remap: what changes
The GAN box plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals, while a flash remap rewrites the ECU itself. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

RS Duratec 2.5 305 hp → 382 hp. The other engines gain at least +10 hp; check the table for each one.
- +89 Nmfor diesels
Diesels gain mostly torque: +46 to +89 Nm, which helps with overtaking and towing.

What makes the Ford Focus II special
Ford Focus Mk2 remap: diesel, petrol and the ST
Here a tuning box for the Focus Mk2 means more engine power from a plug-in unit, not body kits or styling parts. Ford launched the Mk2 in 2004 and gave it the Kinetic Design facelift, the Mk2.5, in 2008. UK reviews also call it the C307; the Duratec badge means petrol and Duratorq TDCi means diesel, with the ST225, RS and RS500 as the performance cars. Every diesel works with the GAN GT: the 1.6 TDCi with 90 and 109 hp, the 1.8 TDCi with 116 hp and the 2.0 TDCi with 110 and 136 hp. On an older 1.6 TDCi, a blocked turbo oil-feed pipe is a known cause of power loss and smoke, so have it checked before you fit a box.
The petrol Duratecs are naturally aspirated and take the GAN GA+: the 1.4 with 80 hp, the 1.6 with 100 and 115 hp, the 1.8 with 125 hp and the 2.0 with 145 hp. The five-cylinder turbos sit at the top: the ST with 226 hp, the RS with 305 hp from January 2009 and the RS500 with 350 hp, limited to 500 cars in May 2010. The RS and RS500 run revised hardware around the same five-cylinder layout, so treat them as separate cars rather than ST variants. Ghia, Zetec and Titanium are trim levels and say nothing about the engine, which is what decides the box.
Ford Focus II remap: common questions
Focus Mk2 1.6 TDCi 109 remap: what does the GAN GT add?
For the 109 hp 1.6 TDCi the catalogue gives 142 hp with the GAN GT, against 109 hp as standard. The 1.6 TDCi with 90 hp has a row of its own. Read these as the stated figures for the engine type, not as a dyno reading of your own car.
Focus ST remap or Mountune kit: where does a tuning box fit?
In 2008 Ford and Mountune offered a dealer kit with a larger intercooler, an air filter and a recalibration, giving 260 hp at 5,500 rpm and 400 Nm at 2,500 rpm against the standard 226 hp and 320 Nm. A tuning box adjusts sensor signals and fits no such parts, and in the catalogue both the ST and the RS work with the GAN GT.
Is there a tuning box for the petrol Duratec engines of the Focus Mk2?
Yes: the 1.4, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 Duratec all take the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12% more power.
Does a GAN tuning box affect my car insurance?
Yes. In the UK a power increase counts as a modification, and insurers expect to be told about it before you drive with the box fitted. Each insurer handles it differently, so check with yours first and quote the before-and-after output from the table above.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
