Chiptuning Renault
Up to 30% more power for your Renault
Our Renault catalog covers 379 engines (models: 30, generations: 46). For 62% of the engines there are the GAN GT (up to 30% more power) and GAN GTL (up to 25%) tuning boxes; for the rest, the GAN GA and GAN GA+ (up to 12%). Each engine’s figures are on its own page.
Renault plug-in remap: no changes to the ECU software
The tuning box sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals – unlike a flash remap, which rewrites the ECU. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

Renault remapping: questions
What does the GAN GT add to a Megane R.S.?
The Megane III 2.0 TCe goes from 250 hp and 340 Nm to 317 hp and 433 Nm with the GAN GT. The 265 hp 2.0 TCe of the same Megane III has its own row, also on the GAN GT. These are the stated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading from your own car.
TCe or SCe: which GAN box fits my Renault?
A TCe is a turbo petrol and most take the GAN GT; a few, such as the Megane III 1.2 and 1.4 TCe, are matched with the GAN GA+, so check your exact engine in the catalogue. A naturally aspirated SCe takes the GAN GA+. A small t in the code, as in H5Ht, confirms a turbo.
Which Renault dCi diesels take the GAN GT?
The 1.5 dCi K9K, 1.6 dCi R9M and 2.0 dCi M9R are turbodiesels, so they suit the GAN GT, and each power output has its own figures in the catalogue. The Megane IV, for example, comes with the 1.5 dCi at 90 and 110 hp.
Tuning box or remap for a Renault TCe or dCi?
A remap rewrites the factory software, whereas the GAN tuning box works between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. The factory software, checksums and flash counter stay as they were, and the engine keeps its factory protections. Your manufacturer's warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed and the box can come off at any time.
Will my insurer need to know about the tuning box?
Yes. In the UK a power increase counts as a modification, and insurers expect to be told about it before you drive with the box fitted. Each insurer handles it differently, so check with yours first and quote the before-and-after output from your engine's page.
Will a tuning box affect my Renault warranty?
No. The box does not change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved. On top of that, we give an engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.
Tuning box or remap: which should I choose?
A flash remap permanently rewrites the maps in the ECU and leaves a trace in the flash counter. The GAN tuning box adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute. A flash remap can be the better choice if the engine has upgraded hardware, or if the car is out of warranty and you accept the risks.
Renault chip tuning: what to know about the engines
Renault remap: the Megane R.S. and the turbo code
The Megane R.S., Renault Sport's performance version, shows most clearly how a Renault tuning box is chosen. The Megane II and III used the 2.0 Turbo, the F4Rt, at 225 to 265 hp. Since January 2018 the Megane IV R.S. has run the 1.8 TCe at 280 to 300 hp, and the Renault Sport name gave way to Alpine in 2021.
That 1.8 carries the code M5Pt. A small t at the end of a Renault engine code marks a turbo version, as in F4Rt, H5Ht and M5Pt.
What TCe, SCe and dCi tell you
The number in a Renault engine name is the power in hp, so start with the badge. TCe means turbo petrol, as in the 1.2 TCe H5Ft, the 1.4 TCe H4Jt, the 1.3 TCe H5Ht and the 2.0 TCe F4Rt. SCe is naturally aspirated petrol, such as the 1.0 and the 1.6 SCe H4M. dCi is a common-rail turbodiesel (the 1.5 K9K, the 1.6 R9M, the 2.0 M9R), and Blue dCi adds AdBlue from 2018.
Engine codes are a family letter plus an index: K4M, K7M, F4R, H4M, K9K and H5Ht are examples. On UK Renaults you will also see E-Tech on the hybrids and electric cars, alongside the TCe and dCi badges. On the Captur, the TCe petrol and the E-Tech full hybrid are different powertrains, so check the model page by engine. Most turbo engines take the GAN GT (rated at up to 30% more power) and the SCe engines the GAN GA+ (up to 12%); either way, your exact engine in the catalogue decides the box.

Engines Renault shares with Nissan and Mercedes
Some Renault engines are Nissan engines too: the H4M is the Nissan HR16DE, the M4R the MR20DE and the H5Ft the HR12DDT. The K9K, R9M and M9R diesels went into the Nissan Qashqai, X-Trail and Juke as well. The 1.3 TCe H5Ht was developed with Daimler and Mercedes uses it as the M282; the K9K diesel appeared in Mercedes cars as the OM607 and OM608.
Megane engines in the catalogue
For a Renault Megane remap, start with the Megane III: its 2.0 TCe at 190, 220, 250 and 265 hp takes the GAN GT. The Megane III dCi diesels, from the 1.5 at 86 hp up to the 2.0 at 163 hp, are covered by the GAN GT too. The 1.6 dCi at 130 and 165 hp is the Megane IV's, and the 2.0 dCi at 150 and 173 hp the Megane II's. The dCi name spans the 1.5 to the 2.3, so only the engine code tells you which version you have.
Which Renault models are in the catalog
The catalog covers 30 models from Renault. The most engines are listed for the Megane (62), Clio (40) and Scenic (39). The biggest gain among the models is on the Megane: up to +71 hp.
Naturally aspirated Renault engines
For 134 naturally aspirated engines from Renault, there is the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% lower fuel consumption in ECO mode, which means better MPG. You can fit it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
How to find your Renault engine
Pick your model from the list above, then the generation by model year and chassis code, then the engine by the power output in your registration document. The engine page shows the exact gain and the price of the box.
