What makes the Renault KWID special
Renault Kwid remap: a car for India and Brazil
Renault builds the Kwid as a small hatchback for India, where it launched in 2015, and for Brazil and other markets. Europe has no official petrol Kwid; the electric Dacia Spring is its relative on the same platform. Renault UK never sold it either, so any Kwid in Britain is a grey import. As such it has no UK trim levels or model years: it is simply an imported Kwid.
A Kwid remap with the GAN tuning box covers two petrol engines: the 0.8 SCe (54 hp, 72 Nm) and the 1.0 SCe (68 hp, 91 Nm). The 0.8 SCe is a three-cylinder of 799 cc. Both SCe engines take the GAN GA+. Production started in 2015, and the first facelift came in 2019.

Will a tuning box raise the top speed of a Kwid?
The box changes power and torque; there is no top-speed figure on this page. The 1.0 SCe starts from 68 hp and 91 Nm and reaches 76 hp and 102 Nm with the GAN GA+. Across the range the GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power. Treat these as stated figures for the engine type, not as a dyno reading from your own car.
How can you tell the 0.8 SCe from the 1.0 SCe?
Go by capacity and output: 799 cc and 54 hp for the 0.8 SCe, 999 cc and 68 hp for the 1.0 SCe.
Does a GAN tuning box affect my car insurance?
Yes. In the UK a power increase counts as a modification, and insurers expect to be told about it before you drive with the box fitted. Each insurer handles it differently, so check with yours first and quote the before-and-after output from the table above.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
