Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone is not enough: in this generation, the same engine designation came in different power outputs, each with its own calibration. Check the power output in your registration document and find the matching row.

Renault Koleos remap: what changes
The GAN box plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals, while a flash remap rewrites the ECU itself. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

What makes the Renault Koleos special
Renault Koleos remap: 2.0 dCi with 150 hp or 173 hp?
A 2.0 dCi badge on a Koleos does not settle the power, because the first-generation diesel was built in 150 hp and 173 hp versions. That means the box is chosen by your diesel's output, not by the badge. The 150 hp car has 320 Nm and appears in the catalogue as a 4x4. The 173 hp car has 360 Nm and is also four-wheel drive, with an automatic among the options. The engine is the same M9R in both, set up differently at the factory, so the catalogue gives each its own row and each takes the GAN GT.
Both were in production from 2008 until 2015. In its later UK years the first Koleos was cut back to one version, the 2.0 dCi 150 4x4, though earlier UK cars also had the stronger diesel. On a 2.0 dCi used mostly for short urban journeys, the particulate filter and emissions system deserve a check before you add torque. The Koleos II carries the same M9R at 177 hp and 380 Nm, as a 4x4 with the X-Tronic CVT. Koleos II buyers could choose front-wheel drive or 4x4.
Petrol, and how the two generations differ
Production of the first Koleos began in June 2008, and it was facelifted in 2011 and again in 2013. Petrol power comes from the 2.5 16V, with 171 hp and 226 Nm, while diesel means one of the two 2.0 dCi versions. The 2.5 petrol takes the GAN GA+. The first Koleos arrived in Britain in 2008 and the second in 2017; neither is sold new today. The Koleos II started in November 2016, was facelifted in April 2019 and ran until September 2023. Besides the main diesel, the range holds the 1.6 dCi with 130 hp, the 1.7 Blue dCi with 150 hp and the 1.3 TCe with 158 hp, plus the 2.0 Blue dCi.
The 1.6 dCi 130 has no row of its own under the Koleos: the same engine is listed as the 1.6 dCi 130 of the Renault Kadjar. Likewise the 1.7 Blue dCi with 150 hp is listed under the Nissan X-Trail III as the 1.7 dCi, not under the Koleos. The 2.0 Blue dCi with 177 hp is the 2.0 dCi CVT 4x4 on this page. The 2.0 Blue dCi in its 183 hp and 190 hp versions and the 1.3 TCe with 158 hp have no catalogue rows. UK listings call the second generation the Koleos Mk2, and it is also known simply as the Koleos 2.
Renault Koleos remap: common questions
What does the GAN GT add to a Koleos 2.0 dCi with 150 hp or 173 hp?
The 150 hp diesel gets to 193 hp and 409 Nm with the GAN GT, and the 173 hp diesel to 222 hp and 457 Nm. For a turbo diesel the GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power. Those are stated figures for the engine type, not a dyno result from your car.
Is the Koleos II 2.0 dCi with 177 hp and the CVT covered?
Yes, the 177 hp, 380 Nm diesel with the X-Tronic CVT has its own row and takes the GAN GT. In Britain the second-generation diesel was also offered with a manual gearbox, so confirm which gearbox your car has.
Is a 2012 Koleos covered, and what about a 2017 car?
A 2012 car is a first-generation Koleos, so it takes one of the two 2.0 dCi versions or the 2.5 petrol. A 2017 car is a second-generation Koleos, and its 2.0 dCi with 177 hp is covered.
Do I need to tell my insurer about a GAN tuning box?
Yes, declare it. British insurers treat extra power as a modification, so the safe course is to tell them before you fit the box. How they treat it varies from one insurer to another, so ask before you fit the box; the standard and tuned figures you will be asked for are in the table on this page.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
