Renault Talisman remap: what changes
The GAN box plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals, while a flash remap rewrites the ECU itself. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

What makes the Renault Talisman special
Renault Talisman remap: Grandtour and saloon diesels
The Talisman was offered as a saloon and as the Grandtour estate, and both bodies share the same engines. Renault UK never sold the Talisman, so in Britain it is a continental grey import. Such cars are left-hand drive and carry continental trims such as Life, Zen, Intens and Initiale Paris. Start a Talisman remap with the 1.6 dCi 160, which produces 160 hp and 380 Nm. Torque is 320 Nm on the 1.6 dCi 130 and 260 Nm on the 1.5 dCi 110. The 1.6 dCi 130 has a single turbocharger, the 1.6 dCi 160 has two, and the 1.7 Blue dCi joined them in 2018. The 1.5 dCi 110, 1.6 dCi 130 and 1.6 dCi 160 were available from 2015 until 2018.
In 2018 the 1.6 dCi 160 left the range. An EDC automatic gearbox comes with the 1.6 dCi 160 and the 1.6 TCe 200. The 1.6 TCe 200 delivers 200 hp and 260 Nm. A 1.6 TCe 150 with 150 hp rounded off the petrol range. On a diesel Talisman used mainly for short trips, have the particulate filter looked at first. The 1.8 TCe 225 of 2018-2020 and the 1.3 TCe 160 from 2019 have no catalogue rows.
Engines the catalogue covers
The GAN GT covers the 1.5 dCi 110, the 1.6 dCi 130, the 1.6 dCi 160 and the 1.6 TCe 200. The diesels became Blue dCi from 2018, in 1.7 and 2.0 sizes. Production ran from August 2015 until February 2022, with a facelift in 2020.
Drive goes to the front wheels. The estate is badged Grandtour, and versions are named after their engine, 1.6 dCi for instance.

From 160 hp and 380 Nm, the 1.6 dCi 160 moves to 206 hp and 481 Nm with the GAN GT. Turbo diesels are rated at up to 30% more power with the GAN GT. Those figures are stated for the engine type; they are not a dyno result from your car.
Does the GAN GT cover the Talisman 1.6 TCe 200?
Yes, the 200 hp, 260 Nm 1.6 TCe 200 takes the GAN GT.
Do the Talisman Grandtour estate and the saloon take the same box?
Both bodies share one engine range, so the engine chooses the box, not the body style.
Is the Blue dCi of 2018-2022 covered?
There is no 1.7 Blue dCi 150 row under the Talisman: the same engine is listed as the 1.7 dCi of the Nissan X-Trail III. The 2.0 Blue dCi 160 and 200 have no catalogue rows.
Should I declare the GAN box to my insurer?
Tell them. A tuning box raises the output, and in Britain that is a declarable modification like any other performance change. Policies differ, so a quick call to your insurer before fitting is the safe route; the figures they will ask for are the stock and GAN outputs listed here.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
