Ford Ranger remap: start with the generation
Before a Ford Ranger remap with a tuning box, start with the generation. The catalogue gives no years for the Ranger, and its diesels belong to the Ranger II of 2006 to 2011. The Rangers sold new in Britain since 2011 carry the 2.2 TDCi or the 3.2 TDCi and, more recently, a 2.0 EcoBlue of up to 213 PS or, on the current model, a 3.0 V6 diesel; none of these has a row in the catalogue yet. Check the engine and the stock output of your pick-up before you choose a box.
The Ranger II is listed with the 2.5 TDCi at 143 hp and the 3.0 TDCi at 156 hp, and both take the GAN GT. The Ranger Raptor, with the twin-turbo 3.0 EcoBoost V6 of 292 hp, has been in Europe since November 2022 and is matched to the GAN GT too. Whether it is an XL, XLT, Limited or Wildtrak makes no difference; the engine decides the box.

Ford Ranger 2.5 TDCi remap: what does the GAN GT add?
The GAN GT takes the Ranger II 2.5 TDCi from 143 hp and 330 Nm to 185 hp and 421 Nm. Those are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading from your own car.
Does the Ranger Raptor with the 3.0 EcoBoost take the same box?
Yes. The 292 hp Raptor has a turbocharged petrol engine, has a row of its own, and takes the GAN GT.
Should I declare the GAN box to my insurer?
Yes, declare it. British insurers treat extra power as a modification, so the safe course is to tell them before you fit the box. How they treat it varies from one insurer to another, so ask before you fit the box; the standard and tuned figures you will be asked for are in the table on this page.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
