Each engine has its own tuning box: GAN GT / GTL or GAN GA / GA+. Prices are per box and include the current discount.
Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone is not enough: in this generation, the same engine designation came in different power outputs, each with its own calibration. Check the power output in your registration document and find the matching row.

Kia Carnival remap: what changes
The GAN box plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals, while a flash remap rewrites the ECU itself. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

What makes the Kia Carnival special
Kia Sedona and Carnival 2.9 CRDi remap: start with the build date
Almost every Carnival sold in Germany was a diesel, so for this van a tuning box normally means the 2.9 CRDi. From there the build date decides which version you have. In Britain the first two generations carried the Sedona badge rather than Carnival. The 2.9 CRDi first appeared with the 2002 facelift, making 144 hp and 310 Nm; it took over from the 2.9 TD, which had 126 hp. The second generation, which started in the summer of 2006, kept the engine size but raised the figures to 185 hp and 343 Nm.
The 185 hp version is the 2.9 CRDi VGT. The catalogue lists every 2.9 CRDi twice, as sensor1 and sensor2. The figures are identical, because the difference lies in the sensor type and not in the calibration. The 144 hp, 310 Nm engine reaches 186 hp and 397 Nm with the GAN GT.
The petrol V6 engines and the last diesel
The 2.5 V6 was the petrol option: 165 hp up to the 2002 facelift, 150 hp from then on. A 2.7 V6 with 189 hp came with the second generation. V6 petrols suit the GAN GA and GAN GA+, while the diesels go with the GAN GT and GAN GTL. Its catalogue row for the 2.7 V6 reads 189 hp and 247 Nm.
Once Germany dropped the van in spring 2010, the 2010 facelift lived on only in the UK, Switzerland and Austria, with a single engine, the 2.2 CRDi at 421 Nm. In 2011 a 150 hp version was added. Put the GAN GA+ on the 150 hp 2.5 V6, which makes 224 Nm, and it reaches 168 hp and 251 Nm.
Kia Carnival remap: common questions
How can I tell a 144 hp Sedona or Carnival 2.9 CRDi from the 185 hp one?
The build date separates them: 144 hp engines were fitted from 2002 until mid-2006, 185 hp engines from mid-2006.
What does a Kia Sedona 2.9 CRDi 185 hp remap with the GAN GT give?
On the GAN GT the 185 hp engine (343 Nm) goes to 237 hp and 437 Nm. The GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power on the diesels, and the GAN GA+ at up to 12% on the petrol V6 engines. These figures are the stated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Kia Sedona or Carnival: is it the same van?
Yes: in the UK and Ireland the same van is sold as the Sedona, while in Germany the 2006 generation is called the Carnival III. The British version of that generation was also available with a 170 hp 2.9 CRDi. The 170 hp 2.9 CRDi has no row in the catalogue.
Can you still buy a new Carnival in Europe?
Kia currently lists neither the third generation of 2014–2021 nor the fourth generation from 2020 in Germany. The European Carnival is the van built between 1999 and 2011. Carnivals of the later generations that you see in Britain are generally grey imports.
Do I need to tell my insurer about a GAN tuning box?
Yes. In the UK a power increase counts as a modification, and insurers expect to be told about it before you drive with the box fitted. Each insurer handles it differently, so check with yours first and quote the before-and-after output from the table above.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
