What makes the Nissan Juke special

Nissan Juke remap: from the 1.6 DIG-T 190 to the Nismo RS

Before anything else, work out which Juke you have: the 1.6 DIG-T comes in three outputs. The standard Juke makes 190 hp, the 2013 Juke Nismo 200 hp and the Nismo RS 218 hp, or 213 hp with the CVT. All three work with the GAN GT, which brings them to 230, 242 and 264 hp. The 1.5 dCi with 110 hp takes the GAN GT as well.

The naturally aspirated 1.6 engines, at 94, 112 and 117 hp, go with the GAN GA+. The 1.2 DIG-T with 115 hp (2014–2018) has no row in the catalogue yet. British buying guides single out that 1.2 DIG-T for oil consumption that can lead to timing-chain damage. British listings split the Juke into the first-generation F15 and the second-generation F16 from 2019, with Nismo and Nismo RS as separate badges.

Juke Nismo RS remap: what does the GAN GT add to 218 hp?

The catalogue lists the Nismo RS at 218 hp and 280 Nm, and with the GAN GT it reaches 264 hp and 339 Nm. The figures are stated gains for this engine type rather than a dyno measurement of your car. On this engine the GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power.

Will a GAN box change the CVT of a Juke 1.6?

The 1.6 with 117 hp and the four-wheel-drive 1.6 DIG-T can be had with a CVT. The GAN box leaves the gearbox software alone. For the naturally aspirated 1.6, the GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power.

Do I need to tell my insurer about a GAN tuning box?

Yes, declare it. British insurers treat extra power as a modification, so the safe course is to tell them before you fit the box. How they treat it varies from one insurer to another, so ask before you fit the box; the standard and tuned figures you will be asked for are in the table on this page.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?

Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
