Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone is not enough: in this generation, the same engine designation came in different power outputs, each with its own calibration. Check the power output in your registration document and find the matching row.

Honda Accord VII remap: what changes
The GAN box plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals, while a flash remap rewrites the ECU itself. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

2.2 i-CTDi 140 hp → 181 hp. The other engines gain at least +19 hp; check the table for each one.
- +93 Nmfor diesels
Diesels gain mostly torque: +93 to +93 Nm, which helps with overtaking and towing.

What makes the Honda Accord VII special
Honda Accord Mk7 remap: the weakest engine gains the most
Which gains more from a tuning box, the diesel Accord VII or the petrol? A Honda Accord Mk7 remap favours the diesel, even though it has the lowest stated output of the three engines. Between 2002 and 2008 the Accord VII was built as the CL7, CL9 and CN1 saloon and the CM and CN Tourer, with a 155 hp 2.0 i-VTEC, a 190 hp 2.4 i-VTEC and a 140 hp 2.2 i-CTDi diesel. In Britain it is simply the Mk7 saloon or Tourer, in SE, Sport, Type-S and Executive trims, with the 2.0 i-VTEC, 2.4 i-VTEC and 2.2 i-CTDi as the engine badges.
The diesel was Honda's first of its own design and was sold in Europe only. The gearbox was a five-speed manual until 2006 and a six-speed after that year's facelift. The Tourer estate arrived in spring 2003 with the same engines.
What each engine gains in the Accord VII
The GAN GT adds 41 hp and 93 Nm to the 2.2 i-CTDi. On the petrols the GAN GA+ adds 19 hp and 23 Nm to the 2.0 i-VTEC, and 23 hp and 26 Nm to the 2.4 i-VTEC. The diesel therefore gains more than twice the 2.0 petrol's figure, although it starts from the lowest stated output. The 2.2 i-CTDi is also the Accord to look at for towing, as its 340 Nm of torque sits well above the petrols.
Honda Accord VII remap: common questions
Accord 2.2 i-CTDi remap: how much more power does the GAN GT bring?
From a standard 140 hp and 340 Nm, the catalogue shows the diesel at 181 hp and 433 Nm with the GAN GT. Five-speed and six-speed cars get the same figures, as the box does not reprogram the gearbox. Read these as the stated figures for the engine type, not as a dyno reading of your own car.
Will a tuning box do much for the 2.0 and 2.4 i-VTEC Accord VII?
Both are naturally aspirated, and both take the GAN GA+. The GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power, and the catalogue gains for both engines sit close to that ceiling. Being naturally aspirated, they respond with a measured gain rather than the jump a turbodiesel gives.
Does the Accord Tourer need a different box from the saloon?
No: the estate shares its engines with the saloon, so the same figures apply.
Do I need to tell my insurer about a GAN tuning box?
Yes. In the UK a power increase counts as a modification, and insurers expect to be told about it before you drive with the box fitted. Each insurer handles it differently, so check with yours first and quote the before-and-after output from the table above.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
