What makes the Audi RS4 special
Audi RS4 remap: one naturally aspirated V8
The RS4 B7 runs a naturally aspirated 4.2 FSI V8, and it was never offered with a turbocharger. In Britain the B7 came as a saloon, an Avant and a cabriolet, while the B8 was sold only as the RS 4 Avant. The B7 made 420 hp. The B8, built from 2012 to 2015, makes 450 hp from a further development of the same 4.2 FSI, which has been the RS5 engine since 2010. The GAN GA+ tuning box takes the 420 hp engine to 454 hp, and the B8 engine, listed at 444 hp, to 480 hp, for up to 12% more power.
They are catalogue gains stated for these engine types, not a measurement taken on your own car. The S4 B7 has a different engine: a 4.2 V8 with 344 hp and port injection, where the RS4 has the high-revving 4.2 FSI. The RS4 is no longer sold new in Britain. The 2.7 biturbo of the RS4 B5 and the 2.9 TFSI of the RS4 B9 are not in the catalogue.

RS4 B7 and B8: how much torque does the GAN GA+ add?
On both engines, the 420 hp B7 and the B8 listed at 444 hp, the GAN GA+ lifts torque from 430 Nm to 464 Nm. The B7's standard 430 Nm peaks at 5,500 rpm.
Audi RS4 Stage 1 remap or a GAN tuning box?
A remap rewrites the ECU software, whereas the GAN module works differently: it sits between the sensors and the ECU, and the factory software stays as it was. Because the ECU software is never changed and the module can be removed at any time, your manufacturer's warranty is preserved.
Do I need to tell my insurer about a GAN tuning box?
Yes, declare it. British insurers treat extra power as a modification, so the safe course is to tell them before you fit the box. How they treat it varies from one insurer to another, so ask before you fit the box; the standard and tuned figures you will be asked for are in the table on this page.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
