Chiptuning Chery
Up to 30% more power for your Chery
Our Chery catalog covers 35 engines (models: 14, generations: 19). For 20% of the engines there are the GAN GT (up to 30% more power) and GAN GTL (up to 25%) tuning boxes; for 28 naturally aspirated engines, the GAN GA and GAN GA+ (up to 12%). Each engine’s figures are on its own page.
Chery plug-in remap: no changes to the ECU software
The tuning box sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals – unlike a flash remap, which rewrites the ECU. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

Chery remapping: questions
Chery Tiggo 7 tuning: is the 1.5 turbo the same engine in the Tiggo 4, 5, 7 and 8?
The Tiggo 5, 7 and 8 sold in Italy all use the 1.5 turbo Acteco, rated at 150, 156 and 154 hp respectively, and the DR 5.0, built on the Tiggo 4, has had it since late 2020. Being a turbo petrol, it takes the GAN GT. For the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 that means 147 hp and 210 Nm become 190 hp and 271 Nm. These are the stated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading from your own car. The Super Hybrid Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 sold in Britain combine a 1.5-litre petrol engine with electric drive, so they are not the same case as a conventional turbo petrol.
Is there a GAN box for the naturally aspirated Tiggo 2 1.5 or Tiggo 3 1.6?
Yes. The Tiggo 2 1.5 (106 hp) and the Tiggo 3 1.6 (126 hp) are both naturally aspirated, so the GAN GA+ is the box; the catalogue gives 119 hp and 151 Nm for the 1.5, and 141 hp and 179 Nm for the 1.6. With the GAN GA+ rated at up to 12% more power, that is the most to expect from your engine.
Are the DR, EVO, Sportequipe and Ebro cars running the same Chery engines?
Broadly yes: Italy's DR, EVO and Sportequipe cars are rebadged Chery models, and Spain's Ebro S400, S700 and S800 are built on Chery models. The Ebro S700 has used the 1.6T since December 2024, and the S400 is a hybrid with 211 hp.
Chery remap or tuning box: what stays untouched?
Where a remap rewrites the control unit's software, the GAN box sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts the signals they send. The factory software is left as it was, and the box leaves no traces when it comes off.
Will my insurer need to know about the tuning box?
Yes. In the UK a power increase counts as a modification, and insurers expect to be told about it before you drive with the box fitted. Each insurer handles it differently, so check with yours first and quote the before-and-after output from your engine's page.
Will a tuning box affect my Chery warranty?
No. The box does not change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved. On top of that, we give an engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.
Tuning box or remap: which should I choose?
A flash remap permanently rewrites the maps in the ECU and leaves a trace in the flash counter. The GAN tuning box adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute. A flash remap can be the better choice if the engine has upgraded hardware, or if the car is out of warranty and you accept the risks.

Chery Tiggo remap or tuning box? Engines under other badges in Europe
Chery has had cars on European roads since November 2007, often under another badge, which is why a Chery remap or tuning box is chosen by the engine and not by the name on the grille. DR Motor imported and assembled the cars in Italy together with Chery from November 2007, and the DR1 to DR7, EVO and Sportequipe models are Chery cars with a different badge. Chery's own direct entry came on 30 June 2025 in Poland, where the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 launched as petrol and plug-in hybrid models, and Greece, the Czech Republic, Romania and Hungary came next. Britain was next in summer 2025, starting with the Tiggo 8.
The official British launch was in August 2025 with the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8, and the UK range now also includes the Tiggo 4 and Tiggo 9, while the older models in our catalogue are not official UK-market cars. The Tiggo 8 is a seven-seat family SUV, and its performance is assessed against the Kia Sorento, Peugeot 5008 and Skoda Kodiaq. Omoda and Jaecoo have been separate Chery brands in Europe since 2024, and neither is in the GAN catalogue.
One petrol family: Acteco
Chery's family of petrol engines is called Acteco, and it was developed with the Austrian company AVL. In the Italian DR cars the naturally aspirated Actecos (1.5, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 litres) make between 106 and 139 hp. Depending on the car, the 1.5 turbo makes 150 to 158 hp, and the 1.6T known as the 290T makes 200 hp. The indices 230T and 290T are trade names for turbo engines, while TGDI stands for a petrol turbo with direct injection.
The petrol Tiggo sold in Britain today is listed as a 1.6-litre turbo rated at 147 hp, the same output as the 1.5T rows in our catalogue, so check the engine size against your registration document before you choose. Plus, Pro and Pro Max are labels for generations and versions rather than for engines. British petrol trims are called Aspire and Summit, and the plug-in hybrids are sold as Super Hybrid or CSH.

Engines by model
More than twelve thousand of the first Tiggo (T11) were built, and in Italy it was sold as the DR 5 from 16 November 2007 until June 2022. The first car started with a 1.6 of 109 hp; later versions carried 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 petrols with 118, 132 and 139 hp, and a 1.9 Multijet diesel with 120 hp was offered until 2011. Petrol or bi-fuel (LPG or methane) were the options on the DR EVO, whose 1.6 makes 126 hp. The Tiggo 2 reached Italy as the DR 3 with a naturally aspirated 1.5 making 106 hp.
Based on the Tiggo 4 and 5x, the DR 5.0 had a naturally aspirated 1.5 Acteco of 116 hp and, from late 2020, a 1.5 turbo of 154 hp. The DR 6 was the Tiggo 5, with a 1.5 turbo of 150 hp. At launch, the DR F35 (later the DR 6.0), which was the Tiggo 7, and the DR 7.0, which was the Tiggo 8, all ran a 1.5 turbo of 154 to 156 hp. For turbo engines like the 1.5 turbo the match is the GAN GT, rated at up to 30% more power; for naturally aspirated ones it is the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12%.
Which Chery models are in the catalog
The catalog covers 14 models from Chery. The most engines are listed for the Tiggo (16), Arizzo 5 (3) and QQ (3). The biggest gain among the models is on the Tiggo: up to +43 hp.
Naturally aspirated Chery engines
For 28 naturally aspirated engines from Chery, there is the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% lower fuel consumption in ECO mode, which means better MPG. You can fit it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
How to find your Chery engine
