What makes the Chrysler Pacifica special
Chrysler Pacifica remap: when overtaking takes too long
The first-generation Pacifica feels its weight when you pull out to overtake on a two-lane road with the family on board. At about two tonnes, the six-seat crossover is a lot of mass for the 3.5 V6 and its four-speed automatic, which is slow to move it. The name belongs to two very different cars, so before choosing a tuning box be sure which Pacifica you have. In Britain the Pacifica was never sold through Chrysler UK: the cars on the road are left-hand-drive North American imports, the later minivan from 2017 among them.
The crossover was built from 2003 to 2007 and sold until the 2008 model year; few reached European buyers, mostly as imports. For the 2007 model year the 4.0 V6 arrived, with a six-speed automatic. Both the 3.5 and the 4.0 are in the catalogue as separate rows, and both are matched to the GAN GA+.
The three V6 engines
The model's life brought three V6 engines: the 3.5, the 3.8 for the front-wheel-drive base car, and the 4.0 from the facelift. In 2007 the 4.0 replaced the 3.5, along with new headlights and a three-bar grille. The catalogue gives the 3.5i as 253 hp and 339 Nm, the 3.8i as 218 hp and the 4.0i as 255 hp. All three are naturally aspirated V6 engines that take the GAN GA+.
The minivan with the same name
Since the 2017 model year the Pacifica name has also gone on a minivan, a different car altogether with a 3.6 V6. In Europe it mainly turns up as an import, since it was built for North America. The catalogue's 3.6i, at 291 hp and 355 Nm, belongs to that minivan, not to the 2003–2008 crossover.

Chrysler Pacifica 3.5 or 4.0 V6: which one is yours?
Engine size is the giveaway: a 3.5 V6 is the 3.5i (253 hp, 339 Nm), a 4.0 V6 the 4.0i (255 hp). From 2007 the facelift cars carry the 4.0 with the six-speed automatic.
Pacifica 4.0 remap with a GAN box: how much more power?
The GAN GA+ takes the 4.0i from 255 hp up to 275 hp. A naturally aspirated V6 is rated at up to 12% more power with the GAN GA+. Those are the stated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading of your own car.
Is there a tuning box for the front-wheel-drive Pacifica 3.8?
Yes: the 3.8 V6 with 218 hp has its own row and takes the GAN GA+. From the 2005 model year it was the base engine of the front-wheel-drive car.
Will my insurer need to know about the tuning box?
Yes. In the UK a power increase counts as a modification, and insurers expect to be told about it before you drive with the box fitted. Each insurer handles it differently, so check with yours first and quote the before-and-after output from the table above.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
