What makes the GAZ Gazel special
GAZ Gazelle remap: GAZelle and GAZelle Next
The classic GAZelle went to Poland and the Czech Republic as an export rather than as a widely sold EU van. For the GAZelle Next, EU sales are unconfirmed as well. There was no official UK launch, so a GAZelle on British roads is a limited used import.
A GAZelle remap with a tuning box comes down to one engine: the 2.8 Cummins ISF, a four-cylinder turbodiesel used in the GAZelle Business from 2010 and in the GAZelle Next from 2013. As a turbo engine, it takes the GAN GT.

Remap or GAN tuning box on a GAZelle Next: what stays untouched on a working van?
An ECU remap rewrites the factory software, whereas the GAN box sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. The factory software, checksums and flash counter stay as they are, and the engine's factory protections stay active.
Do I need to tell my insurer about a GAN tuning box?
Tell them. A tuning box raises the output, and in Britain that is a declarable modification like any other performance change. Policies differ, so a quick call to your insurer before fitting is the safe route; the figures they will ask for are the stock and GAN outputs listed here.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
