Jaecoo J7 remap: what changes
The GAN box plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals, while a flash remap rewrites the ECU itself. Your manufacturerâs warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

What makes the Jaecoo J7 special
Jaecoo 7 remap: the J7 is the same car
A Jaecoo J7 tuning box and a Jaecoo 7 tuning box are one and the same: in Europe the car is sold without the J. UK retail pages write the name JAECOO 7 and list it in Deluxe and Luxury trims. At home in China the car is the Chery Tansuo 06, which is also sold as the Tiggo 7 High Energy. Jaecoo is Chery's export label, and the J7 was its opening model for Europe. Production is in Dalian on the T1X platform; the car debuted in Shanghai in 2023 and arrived in Europe in 2024.
T1EJ is its internal code. Italy's cars arrived in autumn 2024 as petrol only, Britain's in December 2024, and Germany has the model too. The car is still in Jaecoo's 2026 UK range, with petrol and SHS plug-in-hybrid versions. Only one body is offered, a five-door C-segment crossover about 4.5 metres long.
Engines on offer
Petrol power comes from the 1.6 TGDI, a 1,598 cc Kunpeng engine producing 147 hp and 275 Nm. It is paired with a seven-speed DCT and with front- or all-wheel drive, depending on the version. UK listings badge it 1.6T, as a front-wheel-drive Deluxe or an all-wheel-drive Luxury. Other markets describe versions with 186 to 197 hp, so confirm the output of your own car.
Two hybrids exist: the SHS-P plug-in and the SHS-H full hybrid (sold in Europe since March 2026), each with a 1.5 turbo petrol engine. The SHS-P combines the 1.5 turbo with an electric motor and offers a WLTP range of about 90 km.
What the catalogue covers
The catalogue has one engine for this car, a 1.5 turbo at 147 hp that goes with the GAN GT, and that is the starting point for any Jaecoo 7 remap. Boxes are matched to the engine, which makes a catalogue 1.5 turbo and a 1.6 TGDI under the bonnet two different cases.
Jaecoo J7 remap: common questions
Jaecoo 7 tuning box: does the catalogue engine match the 1.6 TGDI?
Europe's petrol engine is the 1.6 TGDI at 147 hp, but the catalogue lists just a 1.5 turbo. The 1.6 TGDI has no row in the catalogue yet.
Jaecoo 7 SHS hybrid: is there a GAN box for it?
The SHS-P and the SHS-H both pair a 1.5 turbo petrol engine with an electric motor. The 1.5 turbo hybrid engine of the SHS-P and the SHS-H has no row in the catalogue yet.
On a newer brand, what does the box leave untouched?
The factory software, checksums and flash counter are not touched, and the engine's factory protections stay active. Your manufacturer's warranty is preserved: the box never changes the ECU software, and it can be taken off at any time.
Should I declare the GAN box to my insurer?
Yes. In the UK a power increase counts as a modification, and insurers expect to be told about it before you drive with the box fitted. Each insurer handles it differently, so check with yours first and quote the before-and-after output from the table above.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
