Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone is not enough: in this generation, the same engine designation came in different power outputs, each with its own calibration. Check the power output in your registration document and find the matching row.

MG ZS remap: what changes
More power and torque without rewriting the ECU or swapping any parts. The GAN box only adjusts the engine sensor signals. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

What makes the MG ZS special
MG ZS remap: from November 2017 to 2025
In Britain the MG ZS arrived in November 2017 with a choice of the 1.5 VTi-Tech, 106 hp and 141 Nm, or the 1.0 T-GDI, 111 hp and 160 Nm. Trims were Explore, Excite and Exclusive, with the facelift following in July 2020. After the facelift the UK petrol trims became Excite and Exclusive; SE and Trophy are the names of the facelifted ZS EV. Announced at the 2016 Guangzhou show, the ZS reached Chinese buyers in March 2017. An MG ZS remap depends on the year as much as on the engine, because the 1.5 also exists in a Chinese calibration, and the tuning box is matched to both. The 1.5 VTi-Tech is naturally aspirated and drives the front wheels through a five-speed manual. That engine is the one behind the 106 hp row in the catalogue.
The 120 hp 1.5 is a Chinese calibration of the same engine; in China the 1.0 turbo is rated at 125 hp and 175 Nm. The 1.3 Turbo of the ZST, rated at 156 to 163 hp and 230 Nm, was sold in Australia and other markets outside Europe, so there is no row for it. The Chinese facelift came in September 2019. The 1.0 T-GDI is a three-cylinder turbo developed by SAIC with GM, offered with a six-speed manual or automatic. In Britain this was the turbocharged first-generation ZS, and it has no row in the catalogue. The electric ZS EV, sold in Britain since September 2019, has no combustion engine and so falls outside this catalogue.
ZS II, the second generation
Autumn 2024 saw the ZS II reach Europe, sharing its engines with the MG3. Since early 2025, German ZS II cars have had a naturally aspirated 1.5 petrol with 116 hp and 150 Nm, and the catalogue lists it as the 116 hp version. There is no row for the Hybrid+. Every ZS engine in the catalogue works with the GAN GA+.
MG ZS remap: common questions
MG ZS remap: how much more power does the 1.5 get?
The 116 hp ZS II reaches 130 hp and 168 Nm with the GAN GA+, and the catalogue also covers the first generation's 106 hp engine with the same module. The GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power, a stated gain for this engine type and not a dyno reading of your car. Because the 1.5 is naturally aspirated, expect a modest gain rather than turbo-style figures.
Which figures apply to the 116 hp ZS II?
The 1.5 sold since early 2025 with 116 hp uses its own 116 hp figures with the GAN GA+, not those of the 106 hp first-generation engine.
Is the ZS 1.0 T-GDI in the catalogue?
No: the 1.0 T-GDI, with 111 hp and 160 Nm, has no row in the catalogue.
Will my insurer need to know about the tuning box?
Yes. In the UK a power increase counts as a modification, and insurers expect to be told about it before you drive with the box fitted. Each insurer handles it differently, so check with yours first and quote the before-and-after output from the table above.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
