Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone is not enough: in this generation, the same engine designation came in different power outputs, each with its own calibration. Check the power output in your registration document and find the matching row.

Mitsubishi ASX remap: what changes
The GAN box plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals, while a flash remap rewrites the ECU itself. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

What makes the Mitsubishi ASX special
Mitsubishi ASX remap: the 1.8 DI-D diesel
The ASX 1.8 DI-D+ uses the 4N13, the first diesel to carry MIVEC variable valve timing. The Citroën C4 Aircross and the Peugeot 4008 use the same 1.8 diesel. Front-wheel drive came first on the 1.8 DI-D, with four-wheel drive following later.
For this engine the box is the GAN GT, and the catalogue figures begin with the 150 hp version and its 300 Nm. A short-lived 116 hp version with the same 300 Nm was listed in Germany only from January to October 2011, and it also works with the GAN GT.
ASX engines in the catalogue
British listings simply call it the ASX, with trim names such as Juro, and treat it as the first-generation car rather than giving it a Mk number. The first-generation ASX arrived in Europe in June 2010 and stayed in the range until the end of 2021. In Germany the 1.6 petrol with 117 hp and 154 Nm stayed until August 2019, and from September 2019 the range had a single engine, the 2.0 with 150 hp. ClearTec on the 1.6 is a stop-start, economy-minded set-up, not a different engine. Both petrol engines take the GAN GA+, and the 2.0 is naturally aspirated.
The diesels take the GAN GT: the 1.8 DI-D until mid-2015 and, from October 2013, the 2.2 DI-D with 150 hp and 360 Nm. The 2.2 was offered only with four-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic. The 114 hp 1.6 DI-D, sold from 2015 to 2017, has no ASX row of its own; the same engine appears as the 1.6 HDi FAP 115 of the Peugeot 4008. The ASX sold since 2023 is a rebadged Renault Captur with Renault engines, and none of those engines is in the catalogue.
Mitsubishi ASX remap: common questions
Mitsubishi ASX 1.8 DI-D remap: how much power does the GAN GT add?
On the 150 hp version the GAN GT takes 150 hp and 300 Nm up to 193 hp and 385 Nm. The GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power on the diesels, and the GAN GA+ at up to 12% on the 1.6 and 2.0 petrols. Those are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading from your own car.
Which row is the ASX 2.2 DI-D with 360 Nm?
Look for the 2.2 DI-D 4WD with 150 hp and 360 Nm, the four-wheel-drive automatic built from October 2013.
Which GAN box fits the ASX petrol 1.6 and 2.0?
Both the 117 hp 1.6 and the 150 hp 2.0 take the GAN GA+. UK used-car guides describe the 1.6 as having far less pulling power than the 1.8 diesel, so treat the GAN GA+ as a way to add flexibility, not diesel-style torque.
What should I check on an ASX 1.8 DI-D before fitting a box?
The turbocharger is a known weak point on 1.8 DI-D cars built before November 2012. A tuning box does not replace a worn part, so have the turbocharger checked before you fit it. ASXs built between April 2010 and June 2012 were also called back for an ECU reprogramming to cure stalling, so check that the work was done.
Does a GAN tuning box affect my car insurance?
Yes, declare it. British insurers treat extra power as a modification, so the safe course is to tell them before you fit the box. How they treat it varies from one insurer to another, so ask before you fit the box; the standard and tuned figures you will be asked for are in the table on this page.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
