What makes the Mitsubishi Mirage special
Mitsubishi Mirage remap: the car mainland Europe knows as the Space Star
Continental Europe never received the current Mitsubishi Mirage: the same Thai-built hatchback has been sold there as the Space Star since February 2013. Britain was the exception, because Mitsubishi sold the car there as the Mirage until the model was dropped from the UK range in 2021. The Mirage name is also used in the United States, Canada, Australia and South-East Asia. If your car is on the continent, the box you want is listed under the Space Star.
The Space Star was shown at the Paris motor show in 2012 and has naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engines. These are the 1.0 MIVEC with 71 hp and 88 Nm and the 1.2 MIVEC with 80 hp and 106 Nm. The 1.2 was rated at 71 hp and 102 Nm from September 2020 and stayed in the range until September 2025. Older Mirage models reached Europe as the Colt; the Colt CJ0 of 1996 to 2003 was the Mirage in Japan.
What the Mirage figures show
Quoted outside Europe, the 1.2 MIVEC makes 78 hp and 100 Nm; the European figures are 80 hp and 106 Nm. That gap comes from how the output is rated, not from a different engine. In Europe the 1.0 MIVEC is rated at 71 hp, and Asian markets list it slightly lower. So the 78 hp rating belongs to cars from outside Europe, and no European-market car had it.
In Britain the Mirage is a five-door city hatchback, sold at first in numbered trims and from the 2020 facelift as Verve, Design and First Edition. In the catalogue the 78 hp version starts at 100 Nm, and with the GAN GA+ it reaches 87 hp and 112 Nm. Being naturally aspirated, the engine takes the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12% more power. Those are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading from your own car. Remember that these figures apply to cars sold outside Europe.

Is there a turbocharged Mirage?
No factory turbo exists: the 1.0 and 1.2 MIVEC are both naturally aspirated three-cylinder engines. In the UK the 1.0 needs frequent gear changes because of its modest torque, and reviewers find the 1.2 noticeably more relaxed.
Does a GAN tuning box affect my car insurance?
Yes. In the UK a power increase counts as a modification, and insurers expect to be told about it before you drive with the box fitted. Each insurer handles it differently, so check with yours first and quote the before-and-after output from the table above.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
