Each engine has its own tuning box: GAN GT / GTL or GAN GA / GA+. Prices are per box and include the current discount.

Not sure which engine you have?

The badge alone is not enough: in this generation, the same engine designation came in different power outputs, each with its own calibration. Check the power output in your registration document and find the matching row.

Peugeot 3008 remap: what changes

The GAN box plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals, while a flash remap rewrites the ECU itself. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

What makes the Peugeot 3008 special

Peugeot 3008 remap: the range changed in October 2016

Peugeot launched the second-generation 3008 on 29 October 2016, and it went on to win European Car of the Year 2017, the first SUV to do so. Britain calls the earlier car the 3008 Mk1 and the 2016 car the Mk2; Active, Allure, GT Line and GT are trim levels and say little about the engine underneath. The first generation, a compact MPV with crossover styling, was sold from 2009 and stayed in the German range until October 2016.

The engine line-up changed completely with the new car: the second generation has no 1.6 VTi 120 and no 1.6 HDi 109 or 112. So 3008 tuning starts with the generation, and only then do we match a GAN tuning box to the engine.

Mk1 3008: VTi, THP and HDi engines

The petrol 3008 of the first generation had the 1.6 VTi, with 120 hp and 160 Nm until June 2015, and it takes the GAN GA+. The 1.6 THP gave 156 hp and 240 Nm from September 2009, and 165 hp from July 2015. In Britain the first-generation 3008 was bought mainly as a diesel, and the 1.6 diesel was the usual choice. The 1.6 HDi started in 2009 with 109 hp and 240 Nm, moved to 112 hp and then 114 hp, and the BlueHDi makes 120 hp and 300 Nm.

The 2.0 HDi FAP comes in 150 hp and 163 hp versions, both with 340 Nm. Do not assume that a 2.0 BlueHDi 150 (148 hp) matches the 2.0 HDi FAP 150 row: that engine has no row in the catalogue yet. In the HYbrid4, a 37 hp electric motor on the rear axle works with the 163 hp diesel for 200 hp in total and four-wheel drive. The diesels and the THP engines all take the GAN GT.

Mk2 3008: PureTech and BlueHDi engines

The 3008 II offers the 1.2 PureTech 130 with 230 Nm from October 2016; the catalogue lists it at 131 hp. The wet timing belt on the 1.2 PureTech is worth having checked first: belt degradation and a blocked oil strainer are what lead to oil-pressure warnings and engine-damage concerns on some cars. The 2.0 BlueHDi with 177 hp and 400 Nm was built with an automatic gearbox from October 2016 to September 2020. The 1.6 BlueHDi 120 stayed in production until February 2018.

You will find the 1.5 BlueHDi 130 on the Peugeot 3008 II page. On the 1.5 BlueHDi a UK recall concerns the internal camshaft drive chain on engines from a set production period, so check your car's recall status with Peugeot before fitting anything. The third generation, launched for 2024 with its mild hybrids, plug-in hybrids and the electric E-3008, is not in the catalogue.

FAQs

Peugeot 3008 remap: common questions

What does a 3008 2.0 BlueHDi gain from the GAN GT?

The 177 hp car reaches 214 hp and 484 Nm with the box fitted. The GAN GT range is rated at up to 30% more power, and the figures here are stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno result from your own car.

My 3008 Mk1 has a 2.0 HDi: is it the 150 hp or the 163 hp?

Check the output on your registration document. Both the 150 hp and the 163 hp car have 340 Nm, and both take the GAN GT. In Britain the 150 hp engine is generally the manual and the 163 hp the automatic, which is a useful clue but no substitute for the document.

Does a 3008 GT Line badge tell you which GAN box you need?

No: the engine decides the box, not the badge, so read the output and the year from your registration document.

Peugeot 3008 tuning box or ECU remap: what is the difference?

A remap replaces the factory software in the engine control unit, while the GAN tuning box leaves that software untouched. Because the ECU software is never changed and the box can come off at any time, your manufacturer's warranty is preserved.

Will my insurer need to know about the tuning box?

Yes, declare it. British insurers treat extra power as a modification, so the safe course is to tell them before you fit the box. How they treat it varies from one insurer to another, so ask before you fit the box; the standard and tuned figures you will be asked for are in the table on this page.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?

Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
