What makes the Peugeot 307 special
Peugeot 307 remap: check the engine first
On the 1.6 HDi with 110 hp, leaking injector seals let combustion gases escape, and the carbon they leave can foul the oil and starve the turbo of lubrication. The petrol 1.6 16V built before July 2005 could idle roughly and accelerate in jerks, and the cure was an update to the engine control software. Which GAN box you need depends on the engine: the HDi diesels take the GAN GT and the petrols the GAN GA+. British cars are simply badged 307 and came as three- and five-door hatchbacks, an estate and the CC coupe-cabriolet.
Peugeot 307 remap: common questions
Will a tuning box cure a fault on a 307 HDi?
No. The box does not repair faults, and it adjusts the engine's sensor signals rather than changing the ECU program. On the 2.0 HDi 110 the dual-mass flywheel and clutch fail most often, and the FAP particulate filter, EGR valve, injectors and turbo can give trouble as well. A tuning box does not replace a worn part, so have these checked before it goes on.
Peugeot 307 2.0 HDi remap: what does the GAN GT add to the 136 hp car?
The 2.0 HDi 136 goes from 136 hp and 320 Nm to 176 hp and 409 Nm with the GAN GT. The earlier 2.0 HDi with 90 hp and 205 Nm has its own row in the catalogue. Those are stated gains for the engine type, not a measurement from your own car. For diesels the GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power.
Should I declare the GAN box to my insurer?
Tell them. A tuning box raises the output, and in Britain that is a declarable modification like any other performance change. Policies differ, so a quick call to your insurer before fitting is the safe route; the figures they will ask for are the stock and GAN outputs listed here.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
