Each engine has its own tuning box: GAN GT / GTL or GAN GA / GA+. Prices are per box and include the current discount.

Not sure which engine you have?

The badge alone is not enough: in this generation, the same engine designation came in different power outputs, each with its own calibration. Check the power output in your registration document and find the matching row.

Peugeot 508 remap: what changes

The GAN box plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals, while a flash remap rewrites the ECU itself. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

What makes the Peugeot 508 special

Peugeot 508 remap: which 2.0 HDi do you have?

Start by identifying which of the four 2.0 HDi versions your Peugeot 508 has. The box is matched by the car's year, before or after July 2015, and by the engine code. British buyers call the 2011 to 2018 car the 508 Mk1 and the 2019 car the Mk2; Active, Allure, GT Line and GT are UK trim levels. On the 508 I, the 2.0 HDi came with 140 hp and 320 Nm or with 163 hp and 340 Nm; from April 2014 the BlueHDi added versions with 150 hp and 370 Nm or 180 hp and 400 Nm. Production of the 140 hp and 163 hp cars stopped in July 2015, while the BlueHDi versions ran until March 2018.

Every one of these diesels takes the GAN GT. The 2.2 HDi (204 hp, 450 Nm) was built between October 2010 and April 2015. The four-wheel-drive HYbrid4 combines a 163 hp, 300 Nm version of the 2.0 HDi with a 37 hp electric motor, for 200 hp in total. The first RXH estate, built from 2012 to 2014, uses the same combination, and in the catalogue it follows the 163 hp diesel. After the 2014 facelift the RXH was also offered with the 2.0 BlueHDi 180 and front-wheel drive.

Smaller diesels, and petrol 508s

The 1.6 HDi has 112 to 115 hp and 270 Nm; from April 2015 the 1.6 BlueHDi has 120 hp and 300 Nm. Diesel was the default for the first-generation 508; almost no petrol cars were sold. Petrol was limited to the 1.6: a VTi with 120 hp until August 2014, and a THP that made 156 hp and then 165 hp from August 2014.

Timing-chain stretch is the point to check on early 1.6 THP engines; it concerns early 508s and not every engine in the range. The VTi 120 takes the GAN GA+, whereas the THP engines take the GAN GT.

The newer 508: fastback and SW

The 508 II appeared as a fastback in autumn 2018 and as an SW in June 2019, and production ended in May 2025. Its diesels are the 1.5 BlueHDi and the 2.0 BlueHDi, the latter with 163 hp or 177 hp and 400 Nm. The 2.0 BlueHDi 163, the 1.6 PureTech with 181 or 225 hp and the plug-in hybrids are not in the catalogue.

The 1.5 BlueHDi has no entry of its own under the 508: the same engine is listed as the 1.5 BlueHDi 130 of the Peugeot 3008. Likewise the 1.2 PureTech 130 petrol, offered from 2020, appears in the catalogue as the 1.2 PureTech 130 of the Peugeot 208 and not under the 508.

FAQs

Peugeot 508 remap: common questions

What does a 508 2.0 HDi 163 gain from the GAN GT?

The 163 hp engine reaches 197 hp and 411 Nm with the GAN GT. The GAN GT range is rated at up to 30% more power, but the gains shown are stated for the engine type and are not a dyno reading from your own car.

Which GAN box suits the 508 HYbrid4 or the RXH?

For the HYbrid4 the catalogue goes by the 163 hp diesel with 300 Nm; together with the 37 hp electric motor that makes 200 hp. An RXH with the 2.0 BlueHDi 180 has its own entry on this page, the 2.0 HDI 180 RXH with 181 hp.

Is the newer 508 2.0 BlueHDi 177 hp covered?

Yes, it has a row on this page: the 177 hp BlueHDi with 400 Nm takes the GAN GT.

Is a tuning box the same as an ECU remap on a Peugeot 508?

No. An ECU remap rewrites the factory software in the engine control unit, while the tuning box leaves that software exactly as it was. Your manufacturer's warranty is preserved because the ECU software is never changed and the box can be removed at any time.

Should I declare the GAN box to my insurer?

Yes, declare it. British insurers treat extra power as a modification, so the safe course is to tell them before you fit the box. How they treat it varies from one insurer to another, so ask before you fit the box; the standard and tuned figures you will be asked for are in the table on this page.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?

Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
