What makes the Ram 1500 special
Ram 1500 remap: a pickup built for North America
The market comes first: the Ram 1500 is a full-size pickup built for North America, at plants in the USA and Mexico. In Britain it is an import, which specialists bring in and convert, not a model from a UK factory range. In mainland Europe it arrives through importers and is adapted to European standards. KW Auto has been the official Dodge and Ram importer for the EU and EFTA since 2017, and AEC Europe in Munich has handled the Ram since 2018.
Towing in Europe is limited to 3.5 tonnes. Before 2010 the truck was the Dodge Ram 1500; today it is simply the Ram 1500. British adverts use both names, with trims such as Sport, Laramie and Limited. The fourth generation, the DS, ran from 2009 to 2018 and carried on as the Ram 1500 Classic until 2024, while the fifth, the DT, began with model year 2019.

The catalogue has one Ram 1500 engine: the 5.7 Hemi V8 of the DS after the 2013 facelift. In the catalogue its stock output is 395 hp and 552 Nm. Hemis built from 2009 to 2012 made 390 hp.
The GAN GA+ suits it, and the catalogue shows 427 hp and 596 Nm with the box fitted. Engine and gearbox calibration are handled separately on these trucks, so tuning the engine does not by itself cover the gearbox.

The catalogue shows 427 hp and 596 Nm with the GAN GA+, against 395 hp and 552 Nm as standard. The range is rated at up to 12% more power, and this engine stays within that figure. Those are stated gains for the engine type, not a measurement from your own truck.
Will a tuning box lower fuel consumption on a Ram 1500?
The GAN GA+ range is rated at up to 15% lower fuel consumption with an economical driving style. On this page that applies to the 5.7 Hemi, which takes the GAN GA+.
What about the Pentastar 3.6 V6, the Hurricane 3.0 or the TRX?
The Pentastar 3.6 eTorque is on the Dodge RAM 1500 page. The Hurricane 3.0 twin-turbo and the TRX 6.2 V8 have no row in the catalogue yet.
Does the GAN box change anything mechanical on the 5.7 Hemi?
The GAN box only adjusts the engine sensor signals, so it cannot remove a mechanical cause. It plugs into the existing connectors and comes off in about a minute.
Do I need to tell my insurer about a GAN tuning box?
Tell them. A tuning box raises the output, and in Britain that is a declarable modification like any other performance change. Policies differ, so a quick call to your insurer before fitting is the safe route; the figures they will ask for are the stock and GAN outputs listed here.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
