Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone is not enough: in this generation, the same engine designation came in different power outputs, each with its own calibration. Check the power output in your registration document and find the matching row.

Subaru XV remap: what changes
More power and torque without rewriting the ECU or swapping any parts. The GAN box only adjusts the engine sensor signals. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

What makes the Subaru XV special
Subaru XV remap: does a naturally aspirated boxer respond?
A Subaru XV 1.6i or 2.0i has no turbo, which raises the obvious question of whether a tuning box is worth fitting. It is a fair one. Across both generations, the petrol engines of the European XV are naturally aspirated boxers. No turbocharged petrol XV was ever made, so a turbo kit would have no factory version to build on.
Of the two petrol engines, the 1.6i is the one that feels short of power, while the 2.0i has noticeably more torque. The XV was sold in Britain from 2012, with trims such as S, SE and SE Premium that describe equipment, not the engine. Begin by finding your exact engine in the catalogue.
XV 1.6i or 2.0i: first or second generation
The first-generation GP reached Germany in March 2012 and stayed in production until January 2018. It was facelifted in January 2016. Underneath is the Impreza, and every first-generation engine is a four-cylinder boxer with a start-stop system. The 1.6i has 114 hp and 150 Nm, the 2.0i has 150 hp and 196 Nm, and Symmetrical all-wheel drive is standard on both. On British cars the first-generation 2.0i is listed at 150 hp and 196 Nm, the same as the catalogue row. The second generation was built between January 2018 and October 2023, with no diesel.
Geneva saw its debut in 2017. The 2.0i makes 156 hp with direct injection, and every version pairs the Lineartronic CVT with all-wheel drive. In the catalogue the 2.0i also appears at 148 hp and 155 hp, each with 196 Nm. From 2023 the third generation is sold in Europe as the Crosstrek, with the e-Boxer hybrid only. Diesel buyers had the 2.0D (147 hp, 350 Nm) in the first generation, and the second generation added the 2.0 e-Boxer hybrid, whose petrol engine makes 150 hp and 194 Nm.
Subaru XV remap: common questions
Is my Subaru XV 2.0i the 150 hp or the 156 hp car?
That depends on the generation: the first has 150 hp, while the second, built from 2018, has 156 hp, shown as 155 hp in the catalogue. The 150 hp engine, at 150 hp and 196 Nm, reaches 168 hp and 220 Nm with the GAN GA+. For naturally aspirated engines the GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power. Treat these as stated figures for the engine type, not a dyno measurement of your own XV.
Will a tuning box add boost to an XV?
No petrol XV is turbocharged, so there is no factory boost for a box to raise. The GAN GA+ is the box for the 114 hp 1.6i and for every 2.0i.
Are the XV 2.0D and the e-Boxer covered?
No: neither the 2.0D diesel nor the 2.0 e-Boxer hybrid has a row in the catalogue.
Does a GAN tuning box affect my car insurance?
Tell them. A tuning box raises the output, and in Britain that is a declarable modification like any other performance change. Policies differ, so a quick call to your insurer before fitting is the safe route; the figures they will ask for are the stock and GAN outputs listed here.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
