What makes the Suzuki S-Presso special
Suzuki S-Presso remap: can the 1.0 be tuned?
Maruti Suzuki builds the S-Presso for India and sells it there, in South Africa, Nigeria, Indonesia and other African and Asian markets, but not in Europe. It was not part of Suzuki UK's range either, so an S-Presso on British roads is an import. Searches for an S-Presso remap come down to two questions: can it be tuned at all, and how do you make it pick up quicker?
A tuning box for the S-Presso concerns the 1.0-litre K10B with 68 hp, the engine in the catalogue: three cylinders, variable valve timing and no factory turbo. The later K10C Dualjet, 67 hp with two injectors per cylinder, has no row of its own in the catalogue. An import carries no British trim names or generation codes, so describe the car by model year and engine.
Suzuki S-Presso remap: common questions
How much more power does the GAN GA+ add to an S-Presso 1.0?
The catalogue lists the engine at 68 hp, and the GAN GA+ takes it to 76 hp. For a naturally aspirated 1.0 like this the GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power, which around town shows up as response; the figure is a stated gain for the engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Does a turbocharged S-Presso exist?
No, the catalogue lists no turbo S-Presso. Every version runs the same naturally aspirated 1.0, and there is no factory turbo.
Does a GAN tuning box affect my car insurance?
Yes, declare it. British insurers treat extra power as a modification, so the safe course is to tell them before you fit the box. How they treat it varies from one insurer to another, so ask before you fit the box; the standard and tuned figures you will be asked for are in the table on this page.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
