Each engine has its own tuning box: GAN GT / GTL or GAN GA / GA+. Prices are per box and include the current discount.
Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone is not enough: in this generation, the same engine designation came in different power outputs, each with its own calibration. Check the power output in your registration document and find the matching row.

Toyota Hiace remap: what changes
The GAN box plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals, while a flash remap rewrites the ECU itself. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

What makes the Toyota Hiace special
Toyota HiAce 2.5 D-4D remap: four calibrations under one name
Behind the one 2.5 D-4D label sit four calibrations: 88 and 102 hp up to 2006, then 95 and 117 hp. A tuning box for the HiAce begins with the build year, so before you go further find out whether the van dates from before or after the summer of 2006. The 102 hp engine, introduced in November 2001, makes 260 Nm; the 88 hp version makes 192 Nm. Stricter emission rules and an intercooler turned the range into 95 hp with 230 Nm and 117 hp with 294 Nm from the summer of 2006.
A diesel van of 2001 to 2006 has the 88 or 102 hp 2.5 D-4D, and a 2010 van the 117 hp. All four calibrations of the 2.5 D-4D take the GAN GT. Toyota GB sold the XH10-era HiAce new, with the 2.5 D-4D announced for the UK range in November 2001. Toyota UK badged the later van 2.5 D-4D 120, yet its data sheet gives 117 hp, which is the figure to match to the catalogue row.
Where this HiAce comes from
The European HiAce, the XH10 and XH20, was built from August 1995 to 2012 on the Granvia platform, with the engine and front wheels ahead of the driver. Exports stopped in 2012 because the van did not meet Euro 5, and the ProAce replaced it in 2013. The H200 and H300 are Asian vans rather than the European HiAce, and the catalogue covers them and the Japanese Grand HiAce too.
In its data sheet the later van is rated at 95 or 117 hp and 230 or 294 Nm. Sold in Britain from November 1989, the older H100 had a 2.0-litre 1RZ petrol engine and a 2.4-litre 2L-II diesel. Imported Japanese vans may carry Super Custom, Grand Cabin or Regius Ace badges, which are not British trim names.
Toyota Hiace remap: common questions
What does the GAN GT add to a HiAce 2.5 D-4D?
The 102 hp van, 260 Nm, goes to 133 hp and 337 Nm in the catalogue, and the 117 hp van, 294 Nm, to 152 hp and 378 Nm. GAN rates the GT at up to 30% more power on turbo diesels. Those are stated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading of your own van.
HiAce D-4D: tuning box or flash remap?
The GAN box is not a flash remap: it adjusts the sensor signals, and the factory software, checksums and flash counter stay as they were. Whichever you choose, have the injection, cooling and transmission checked first, since more power doesn't remove the risks that come with age.
What engine does a HiAce from 2010 onward have?
By 2010 the range was down to one engine, the 117 hp diesel.
Should I declare the GAN box to my insurer?
Yes, declare it. British insurers treat extra power as a modification, so the safe course is to tell them before you fit the box. How they treat it varies from one insurer to another, so ask before you fit the box; the standard and tuned figures you will be asked for are in the table on this page.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
