Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone is not enough: in this generation, the same engine designation came in different power outputs, each with its own calibration. Check the power output in your registration document and find the matching row.

Toyota Rush remap: what changes
More power and torque without rewriting the ECU or swapping any parts. The GAN box only adjusts the engine sensor signals. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

What makes the Toyota Rush special
Toyota Rush remap: the first Rush is the Terios Europe knew
Toyota never sold the Rush in Europe, though the first Rush did arrive as the Daihatsu Terios, with a 1.5-litre engine of 102 hp and 140 Nm. A Rush remap or tuning box relies on the Asian versions, and the two 1.5 listings stand for two different engines. Built from 2006, the first Rush has the 109 hp 3SZ-VE; the F800 second generation of 2017 has the 104 hp 2NR-VE.
The 3SZ-VE is shared by the first Rush and the European Terios. Toyota GB did not list the Rush either, so any Rush in Britain is a grey import. Imported cars carry the trim badges of the country they came from, such as 1.5G or 1.5S, not official UK trim names.
Toyota Rush remap: common questions
Is a Toyota Rush just a Daihatsu Terios?
For the first Rush, yes: it is a Terios built under a contract-assembly agreement, while the second Rush, the F800 of 2017, is an Asian car with the 2NR-VE engine. Terios and Rush share a single platform.
What does the GAN GA+ add to a Rush?
The first Rush's 1.5 makes 109 hp and reaches 122 hp with the GAN GA+; the second Rush's 104 hp engine reaches 116 hp. On a naturally aspirated engine like this, GAN rates the GA+ at up to 12% more power, so expect the gain as response rather than turbo-style torque; it is a stated figure for the engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Does a GAN tuning box affect my car insurance?
Yes, declare it. British insurers treat extra power as a modification, so the safe course is to tell them before you fit the box. How they treat it varies from one insurer to another, so ask before you fit the box; the standard and tuned figures you will be asked for are in the table on this page.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
