What makes the Audi A4 B7 special

Audi A4 B7 remap: engines shared with the rest of the group

In the B7 (Typ 8E), the 2.0 TFSI with 200 hp, the first TFSI ever fitted to an A4, goes to 254 hp with the GAN GT. It makes no difference whether your B7 is the saloon, the Avant or the Cabriolet, because the engine decides which tuning box fits. In Britain the car is usually called the A4 B7 or the 8E facelift, and the trims were SE and S line above the standard car. With the GAN GT the 170 hp version of the 2.0 TFSI reaches 218 hp, and the 3.0 TDI with 232 hp reaches 262 hp.

On the 2.0 TFSI 200, check the cam follower of the high-pressure fuel pump before you add power, because wear there can damage the camshaft if it is ignored. A 2.7 TDI with 179 hp ends up at 230 hp with chip tuning. The 2.0 TDI PD with 170 hp has no separate row among the A4 B7 engines in the catalogue; look for the same engine under the VW Passat B6 as the 2.0 TDI PD 170 hp.

Engines that take the GAN GA+

The pump-injector 2.0 TDI PD with 140 hp is matched to the GAN GA+. The 1.9 TDI rated at 116 hp comes out at 130 hp. The 1.8 T is a turbocharged engine with multipoint injection; from 163 hp, the GAN GA+ takes it to 183 hp.

From 140 hp and 320 Nm, the 2.0 TDI PD goes to 157 hp and 358 Nm with the GAN GA+. Its rating is up to 12% more power. On the 140 hp diesel, have the balancer-shaft drive of the oil pump checked first, because its failure is the usual talking point on this engine.

What does the GAN GA+ do for the 163 hp 1.8T in an A4 B7?

The 1.8 T moves from 163 hp and 225 Nm to 183 hp and 252 Nm. These figures are stated for this engine type, not a dyno reading from your own car.

A4 B7: GAN tuning box or a flash remap?

A flash remap rewrites the control unit, whereas the GAN tuning box plugs into the existing connectors and adjusts the sensor signals, leaving the factory software alone. The ECU software is never changed and the module can be removed at any time, so your manufacturer's warranty is preserved.
