Each engine has its own tuning box: GAN GT / GTL or GAN GA / GA+. Prices are per box and include the current discount.
Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone is not enough: in this generation, the same engine designation came in different power outputs, each with its own calibration. Check the power output in your registration document and find the matching row.

Audi A6 C7 remap: what changes
The GAN box plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals, while a flash remap rewrites the ECU itself. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

What makes the Audi A6 C7 special
Audi A6 C7 remap: before and after October 2014
Before anything else, work out which side of the October 2014 facelift your A6 C7 falls on, because this page is about engine power, not body kits or styling. The facelift replaced almost the entire engine range of the Typ 4G, so a 2.0 TDI from before autumn 2014 is a different engine from one built afterwards. In Britain the car is simply the Audi A6, with specialists using C7 or 4G, and the Saloon and Avant came in SE, S line and Black Edition trims. The launch diesel was the EA189 2.0 TDI with 177 hp and 380 Nm, and from November 2011 a 136 hp version joined it below.
The facelift brought the EA288 2.0 TDI ultra instead, with 190 hp and 400 Nm. The V6 3.0 TDI moved from 204 and 245 hp to 218 and 272 hp, while the BiTDI went from 313 to 320 hp and gained a 326 hp Competition version. The petrol line changed too: the 179 hp 2.0 TFSI gave way to a 190 hp 1.8 TFSI, and a 252 hp 2.0 TFSI came only once the facelift was out.
The rest of the C7 line-up
The supercharged 3.0 TFSI had 299 hp from late 2010, then 310 hp up to the facelift and 333 hp after it. The naturally aspirated V6 is the 2.8 FSI with 204 hp, and it takes the GAN GA+. Sales began with the saloon in December 2010; the Avant arrived in September 2011 and the allroad quattro in 2012. Look for 4G2 or 4GC on the saloon, 4G5 or 4GD on the Avant and 4GH or 4GJ on the allroad, and note that production ended in May 2018.
Audi A6 C7 remap: common questions
How does the GAN GT treat the 2.0 TDI 177 and the 2.0 TDI ultra 190?
The two belong to different engine families, but both take the GAN GT. The 2.0 TDI 177 rises from 177 hp and 380 Nm to 210 hp and 481 Nm, and the 2.0 TDI ultra 190 from 190 hp and 400 Nm to 225 hp and 505 Nm. If the 2.0 TDI mostly does short journeys, the DPF and EGR need attention first, because blocked systems show up as warning lights and limp mode, and regeneration needs suitable running conditions. Treat both as stated gains for the engine types, not as dyno readings of your own A6.
Audi A6 3.0 TDI remap: does the multitronic gearbox limit the 204 hp car?
The C7 3.0 TDI with 204 hp and 400 Nm is front-wheel drive with multitronic, and the strongest version of that gearbox has a torque limit of 400 Nm. The module does not reprogram the gearbox, so compare the tuned torque in the catalogue with that limit. On the 3.0 TDI it is also worth checking the timing-chain tensioner and the water pump, along with any coolant loss linked to the water-cooled EGR system.
Does a tuning box still work on a 2.0 TDI that has had the EA189 emissions update?
The update applied to the EA189 versions of the C7 2.0 TDI, with 136 and 177 hp, and Volkswagen states that rated power and the torque curve stay the same. The tuning box works with whichever ECU software version is installed, while a flash remap replaces it.
Will my insurer need to know about the tuning box?
Yes. In the UK a power increase counts as a modification, and insurers expect to be told about it before you drive with the box fitted. Each insurer handles it differently, so check with yours first and quote the before-and-after output from the table above.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
