Cupra Formentor remap: what changes

What makes the Cupra Formentor special
Cupra Formentor remap: engines shared with Golf and Audi
On a Cupra Formentor the engine, not the badge, decides which box you need. In Britain it is sold as a standalone Cupra model in V1, V2, VZ1, VZ2 and VZ3 trims, and the facelift is described as a revised Formentor rather than a new generation. The launch range here had the 1.5 TSI, the 2.0 TSI and the 1.4 e-Hybrid, and not every engine below was offered in Britain, so go by the output on your own paperwork. The 2.0 TSI VZ, at 310 hp and 400 Nm, is an EA888 evo4 engine with the code DNFB, shared with the Audi S3 8Y.
There is also a 245 hp 2.0 TSI with 370 Nm, and the VZ5 carries the five-cylinder 2.5 TFSI with 390 hp. The 2.0 TDI makes 150 hp. The e-Hybrid couples an electric motor to a 1.4 TSI for 204 or 245 hp in total. That total is a combined system output, which is why electric range and charging are a separate matter from a petrol-only remap. The 2.0 TSI, the VZ5, the 2.0 TDI and the e-Hybrid all take the GAN GT; on the e-Hybrid the figures apply to its 1.4 TSI engine, 150 hp and 250 Nm.

Cupra Formentor 2.0 TSI 245 remap: what does the GAN GT add?
The GAN GT lifts a 245 hp Formentor to 287 hp and 433 Nm, from 370 Nm as delivered. These are catalogue gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your own car. Turbo engines such as this one are rated at up to 30% more power with the GAN GT.
Which GAN box suits the Formentor 1.5 TSI, the 2.0 TSI 190 and the 204 hp e-Hybrid?
The 204 hp e-Hybrid is covered here by the 1.4 Hybrid 245, since both versions use the same engine. The 1.5 TSI 150 has no separate Formentor row; its engine appears as the 1.5 TSI of the VW T-Roc. The 2.0 TSI 190 likewise sits under another model, as the 2.0 TSI of the Cupra Leon.

A flash remap rewrites the calibration, whereas the GAN box plugs into the existing connectors and comes off in about a minute.
Will my insurer need to know about the tuning box?
Tell them. A tuning box raises the output, and in Britain that is a declarable modification like any other performance change. Policies differ, so a quick call to your insurer before fitting is the safe route; the figures they will ask for are the stock and GAN outputs listed here.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
