What does the GAN GT add to a Formentor VZ 310?
The 310 hp VZ 4Drive goes from 310 hp and 400 Nm to 363 hp and 468 Nm with the GAN GT. The catalogue also covers the 245 hp 2.0 TSI, so go by your own car's stock figure. Read those as the stated gains for this engine type, not as a dyno reading of your car.
Is there a GAN box for the Formentor VZ5 with the five-cylinder engine?
Cupra built a limited run of 7,000 VZ5 cars, using the Audi RS 3's 2.5 TSI, an EA855 engine with 390 hp. Yes, it is in the catalogue: the 390 hp VZ5 takes the GAN GT.
Does the Cupra Ateca differ before and after November 2020?
No. The Ateca has a single engine, the 2.0 TSI with 300 hp, so it is the same car either side of that date. Although the facelift was shown in June 2020, the catalogue splits the Ateca at November 2020; the figures are the same on both sides.
Cupra 2.0 TSI remap or tuning box: what stays untouched?
The difference is where the change is made: a remap rewrites the factory software, whereas a tuning box sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. The factory software, checksums and flash counter stay as they were, and the engine's own protections remain active. Because the ECU software is never changed and the box can be removed at any time, your manufacturer's warranty is preserved.
Should I declare the GAN box to my insurer?
Yes. In the UK a power increase counts as a modification, and insurers expect to be told about it before you drive with the box fitted. Each insurer handles it differently, so check with yours first and quote the before-and-after output from your engine's page.
Will a tuning box affect my Cupra warranty?
No. The box does not change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved. On top of that, we give an engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.
Tuning box or remap: which should I choose?
A flash remap permanently rewrites the maps in the ECU and leaves a trace in the flash counter. The GAN tuning box adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute. A flash remap can be the better choice if the engine has upgraded hardware, or if the car is out of warranty and you accept the risks.
Cupra chip tuning: what to know about the engines
Cupra remap or tuning box? Every model is already the hot version
A date sets the scene for any Cupra tuning box: Cupra has been a brand in its own right since January 2018, and before that it was SEAT's sporty line. First came the Cupra Ateca in 2018, then the Leon in February 2020, and the Formentor of 2020 was the first Cupra with no SEAT twin. The name is short for Cup Racing. Cupra has been officially sold in Britain since 2018, and the Ateca, Leon and Formentor have all been available through the official UK network.
Three Cupra models appear in the catalogue for chip tuning: the Formentor, the Ateca and the Leon. Not in the catalogue are the electric Born (2021) and Tavascan (2023). VZ stands for veloz and marks the top versions.
Formentor: from 245 to 390 hp
At Martorell the Formentor is built on the MQB evo platform it shares with the Leon IV and the Golf VIII. UK materials have used trim badges such as V1, V2, VZ1, VZ2, VZ3, VZ and VZ5, and the Formentor is never marketed as a SEAT. The 2.0 TSI in the Formentor made 245 hp in the VZ and 310 hp in the VZ 4Drive. Cupra UK listed the pre-facelift 2.0 TSI 4Drive DSG at 310 hp, the same figure as the catalogue row. At the top is the VZ5: the five-cylinder 2.5 TSI from the Audi RS 3, with 390 hp, in a limited run of 7,000 cars. The Formentor's engine list in the catalogue closes with a 2.0 TDI of 150 hp.
Formentor tuning has a market behind it. Germany registered 17,606 cars in 2021, 32,638 in 2022 (the peak year), 30,078 in 2023 and 29,406 in 2024. Other Formentor versions were a 1.5 TSI at 150 hp, a 2.0 TSI 4Drive at 190 hp and a 1.4 e-Hybrid. You won't find the 150 hp 1.5 TSI as its own Formentor entry: the same engine is listed under the VW T-Roc 1.5 TSI. The 190 hp 2.0 TSI 4Drive is missing from the Formentor too, but the same engine appears under the Cupra Leon 2.0 TSI. The Cupra Formentor page does list the 1.4 e-Hybrid. Not in the catalogue is the 2.0 TSI VZ 4Drive with 333 hp, which arrived with the July 2024 facelift.

The Cupra Ateca remap and the Leon
There is one engine only on the Cupra Ateca: the 2.0 TSI with 300 hp, four-wheel drive and a seven-speed DSG. Cupra UK listed that Ateca at 300 hp and 400 Nm, which matches the catalogue rows; the Ateca was withdrawn from the UK range in 2026. Cupra's range gained the Terramar in 2024. Those two, the 1.5 TSI and the 2.0 TDI, are for the standard SEAT Ateca; the Cupra doesn't have them.
Both a hatchback and a Sportstourer estate are offered on the Leon. Badge aside, the Cupra Leon is the SEAT Leon IV (KL), whereas the SEAT Leon Cupra (5F) before it ran from 2014 to 2020. The catalogue lists a single Cupra Leon engine, the 2.0 TSI with 190 hp, which was sold in Germany between October 2022 and December 2023. Turbo petrols and the 2.0 TDI in the catalogue are GAN GT engines, rated at up to 30% more power.
