Cupra Leon remap: what changes

What makes the Cupra Leon special
Cupra Leon remap: check the engine, not the name
Many different cars wear the Cupra Leon name, so choose the box by engine. The catalogue lists the 2.0 TSI DSG, rated at 190 hp and 320 Nm. Cupra sells the Leon officially in Britain as a hatchback and an Estate, in V and VZ trim grades; the current car is the Mk4 Leon in VW Group terms. In Germany Cupra offered that version from October 2022 to December 2023, and the 2024 facelift dropped it.
A 300 hp VZ, an e-Hybrid and a 2.0 TDI each have a different engine again. Do not mix it up with the earlier SEAT Leon Cupra (5F): the Cupra Leon KL is the car built on the Leon IV from 2020.

The GAN GT takes the 190 hp, 320 Nm Leon to 230 hp and 387 Nm. Treat them as catalogue gains for this engine type, rather than a dyno reading of your own car.
Will those figures also fit a Cupra Leon VZ or an e-Hybrid?
No. Match the box to the engine and its standard output, not to the Cupra Leon name. In Britain that matters all the more, because the range runs from the front-wheel-drive 2.0 TSI 190 DSG to a 4Drive Estate with far more output.
Do I need to tell my insurer about a GAN tuning box?
Yes, declare it. British insurers treat extra power as a modification, so the safe course is to tell them before you fit the box. How they treat it varies from one insurer to another, so ask before you fit the box; the standard and tuned figures you will be asked for are in the table on this page.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
