GAN tuning box for Dodge

Dodge plug-in remap: no changes to the ECU software

The tuning box sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals – unlike a flash remap, which rewrites the ECU. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

FAQs

Dodge remapping: questions

What does the GAN GT add to a Dodge Nitro 2.8 CRD?

The catalogue takes the 177 hp Nitro 2.8 CRD to 227 hp and 517 Nm with the GAN GT, up from 177 hp and 410 Nm. The 163 hp Caliber 2.2 CRD, sold in Europe from summer 2010, takes the GAN GT as well. Read those as the stated gains for this engine type, not as a dyno reading of your car.

Does the Caliber 2.0 CRD take the same box as the Nitro?

No. The catalogue matches the Volkswagen-built 2.0 CRD with 140 hp to the GAN GA+, so go by your own car's stock figure.

Is there a GAN box for the HEMI engines of a Challenger or Charger?

For the naturally aspirated petrol engines of the Challenger and Charger, the box is the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12% more power. Bear in mind that the catalogue gives their power in SAE hp, so choose by engine and version rather than by the power figure on your European papers. In Britain a Challenger is a grey import, and the 6.1-litre Hemi cars arrive through import channels.

Dodge ECU remap or tuning box: what is different?

A remap rewrites the factory software, whereas a tuning box sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. Factory software, checksums and flash counter all stay as they were with the GAN box, and the engine's own protections remain active. Nothing is written to the ECU, so once the box is removed no traces remain. Because the ECU software is never changed and the box can be removed at any time, your manufacturer's warranty is preserved.

Do I need to tell my insurer about a GAN tuning box?

Yes, declare it. British insurers treat extra power as a modification, so the safe course is to tell them before you fit the box. How they treat it varies from one insurer to another, so ask before you fit the box; the standard and tuned figures you will be asked for are on your engine's page.

Will a tuning box affect my Dodge warranty?

No. The box does not change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved. On top of that, we give an engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.

Tuning box or remap: which should I choose?

A flash remap permanently rewrites the maps in the ECU and leaves a trace in the flash counter. The GAN tuning box adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute. A flash remap can be the better choice if the engine has upgraded hardware, or if the car is out of warranty and you accept the risks.

About Dodge engines

Dodge chip tuning: what to know about the engines

Dodge in Europe: four models and a Viper

With a Dodge the market comes first, so a Dodge Caliber remap starts with where the car was sold. The Caliber was the main Dodge in Europe, built from 2006 to 2011, and its 2.0 CRD diesel came from Volkswagen and made 140 hp. Between 2006 and 2012 Germany registered 6,705 Calibers. Petrol Calibers made 150, 156 and 170 hp, and from summer 2010 a 2.2 CRD from Mercedes added 163 hp. Germany and Austria were first to get the Caliber, in June 2006.

Three more followed: the Avenger in 2007, the Nitro in June 2007 and the Journey in June 2008. In Britain the Caliber, Avenger, Nitro and Journey were the franchised Dodges of roughly 2006–2010, and the Charger, Challenger and Durango you see today are mostly imports. The brand withdrew from Europe around 2011, after Fiat took control of Chrysler, and that is worth knowing before any Dodge chip tuning.

Diesel and petrol under the European Dodge badge

Nitro engines in Europe were a 2.8 CRD from VM Motori (177 hp, 410 Nm), a 3.7 V6 with 205 hp and a 4.0 V6 with 260 hp. Sold from 2008 to 2010, the Journey had the 140 hp 2.0 CRD and a 170 hp 2.4 petrol, and the Fiat Freemont replaced it in 2011. Avenger buyers in the UK, Ireland and Western Europe were getting a saloon.

It shared the 2.0 CRD and added 2.0 and 2.4 petrols, and about 5,500 were sold in Europe between 2007 and 2010. The Dodge Viper SRT-10 of 2005 and 2006 had 506 hp, and Germany registered 188 of them. Turbo engines like the Nitro's 2.8 CRD take the GAN GT, rated at up to 30% more power.

American Dodges arrive as single imports

Challengers, Chargers, Durangos and Rams reach Europe as single imports, through AEC and KW Auto. In Britain they are normally grey imports, though the new Charger is now sold through an official importer, in left-hand drive only, as the Sixpack R/T and Scat Pack. A Dodge Charger remap therefore depends on which Charger you own: the UK-imported Sixpack R/T makes 420 hp and the Scat Pack 550 hp, both from a twin-turbo 3.0-litre straight-six. Challenger Hellcats are quoted twice: 727 hp by the European metric count and 717 hp by the American SAE rating.

For American models the catalogue quotes SAE hp, a different measure from the European PS. Europe's Dodges are the Caliber, Journey, Nitro and Avenger, while the Challenger and Charger are American muscle cars with Hellcat and SRT labels. The 2024 Charger is the electric Daytona and, announced for Europe in 2026, the Sixpack with a 3.0 six-cylinder. SRT is the factory performance division. Its SRT8 cars have the naturally aspirated 6.1 and 6.4 HEMI, and Hellcat is the name for the supercharged 6.2 HEMI.

Which Dodge models are in the catalog

The catalog covers 14 models from Dodge. The most engines are listed for the RAM (34), Caravan (12) and Caliber (10). The biggest gain among the models is on the RAM: up to +65 hp.

Naturally aspirated Dodge engines

For 100 naturally aspirated engines from Dodge, there is the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% lower fuel consumption in ECO mode, which means better MPG. You can fit it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
