Each engine has its own tuning box: GAN GT / GTL or GAN GA / GA+. Prices are per box and include the current discount.
Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone is not enough: in this generation, the same engine designation came in different power outputs, each with its own calibration. Check the power output in your registration document and find the matching row.

Volkswagen Transporter T5 remap: what changes
The GAN box plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals, while a flash remap rewrites the ECU itself. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

What makes the Volkswagen Transporter T5 special
VW T5 remap for a van that works
A T5 may be a Transporter, a Caravelle, a Multivan or a California camper, and a VW Transporter T5 remap with a tuning box applies to all of them. The T5 (Typ 7H and 7E) arrived in March 2003, was facelifted in autumn 2009 with the body code 7E and gave way to the T6 in July 2015. Since the facelift the diesel has been the common rail 2.0 TDI (EA189) at 84, 102, 114 or 140 hp, with the 2.0 BiTDI, which has two turbochargers and 400 Nm, at the top. The GAN GT covers the 2.0 TDI at 84, 102 and 114 hp and the BiTDI. The 140 hp version has its own row on this page too.
UK sources list the 140 hp 2.0 TDI at 340 Nm, which matches its row in the catalogue. The petrol 2.0 TSI, at 150 hp (from June 2012) and 204 hp (from June 2011), also takes the GAN GT and shows the largest gain in hp of the whole generation. The naturally aspirated 2.0 at 115 hp and the 3.2 VR6 at 235 hp take the GAN GA+. In Britain it is simply the VW T5, or T5 Transporter, and UK listings go by that generation code rather than a Mk number.
The earlier T5 engines
Up to October 2009 the T5 used the 1.9 TDI PD at 84 to 105 hp and the 2.5 TDI R5 at 131 and 174 hp, and the catalogue gives them the GAN GA+.
Volkswagen Transporter T5 remap: common questions
What does a tuning box give the T5 2.0 TDI at 102 and 114 hp?
The two engines gain differently: 102 hp and 250 Nm rise to 133 hp and 325 Nm, and 114 hp and 250 Nm to 148 hp and 335 Nm. On the BiTDI the GAN GT lifts 179 hp and 400 Nm to 208 hp and 508 Nm. The GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power, and these are catalogue gains for the engine types, not a dyno result for your van.
What happens to the manufacturer's warranty if I fit a tuning module to a T5?
Your manufacturer's warranty stays intact: the factory ECU software is left untouched and the module can come off whenever you like. Removal takes a few minutes and leaves no electronic or mechanical trace behind.
What does the GAN GA+ do for the 1.9 TDI, 2.5 TDI and 3.2 VR6?
The GAN GA+, rated at up to 12% more power, covers the 1.9 TDI at 84, 86, 102 and 105 hp, the 2.5 TDI at 131 and 174 hp, the 2.0 at 115 hp and the 3.2 VR6 at 235 hp. The 2.5 TDI goes from 174 hp and 400 Nm to 195 hp and 448 Nm, and the 3.2 VR6 from 235 hp to 263 hp.
Will my insurer need to know about the tuning box?
Tell them. A tuning box raises the output, and in Britain that is a declarable modification like any other performance change. Policies differ, so a quick call to your insurer before fitting is the safe route; the figures they will ask for are the stock and GAN outputs listed here.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
