What makes the Geely Emgrand special

Emgrand EC7 remap: a car from other markets

Geely planned to launch the Emgrand EC7 in Britain in 2012, but the launch was put on hold and the car never reached the EU or the UK. A Geely Emgrand remap with a tuning box is therefore a question for cars from other markets, fitted with Mitsubishi 1.5 and 1.8 engines and, from 2014, a 1.3 turbo. An Emgrand on British roads is a private grey import, not a car sold through a UK dealer network.

This page covers the EC7 in 1.5i and 1.8i form, and both take the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12% more power. The 1.3 turbo from 2014 has no row in the catalogue. Neither does the fourth generation, the SS11 of 2021, which is sold in neither the EU nor the UK.

What does a Geely Emgrand remap box add to the 1.8i with 137 hp?

The 1.8i produces 137 hp and 172 Nm as standard, and 153 hp and 193 Nm with the GAN GA+. Those are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading from your own car.

Does the Emgrand SS11 with a turbo engine have a row?

No. Proton builds its S70 on the SS11 base with a 150 hp 1.5 turbo, but the catalogue has no turbo engine for the Emgrand.

Does a GAN tuning box affect my car insurance?

Yes, declare it. British insurers treat extra power as a modification, so the safe course is to tell them before you fit the box. How they treat it varies from one insurer to another, so ask before you fit the box; the standard and tuned figures you will be asked for are in the table on this page.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?

Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
