What makes the Porsche Macan special
Porsche Macan remap: the year decides the engine
Macan engines depend on the year: in 2018 the 95B range changed. Before 2018 the line-up is the 2.0 TFSI (252 hp), the S Diesel (258 hp) and the GTS 3.0 V6 (360 hp). After 2018 the 2.0 TFSI drops to 245 hp (265 hp from 2021), the diesels disappear and the GTS moves to a 2.9 V6 in 2019. The GAN GT covers the 2.0 TFSI at 237 and 252 hp, the 3.0 Diesel at 211, 245 and 250 hp, the S Diesel and the GTS 3.0 V6. No row exists yet in the catalogue for the Macan S, the 400 hp Turbo or the 2.9 V6 engines.
The 440 hp Turbo with the Performance Package has no row of its own in the Macan catalogue: the same engine is listed as the 3.6 GTS of the Porsche Cayenne. The Macan S Diesel is rated at 258 hp and 580 Nm, so match yours by those figures. British buyers split the first generation into the pre-facelift car of 2014 to 2018 and the facelifted one from 2018, which was updated again in 2021. Because the pre-facelift 3.0 V6 petrols differ from the 3.0 single-turbo and 2.9 twin-turbo V6 engines fitted after the 2018 facelift, identify the engine by badge and model year before choosing a box.

Macan 2.0 TFSI remap: what does the GAN GT add to the 252 hp car?
The catalogue lists 319 hp and 469 Nm for the 252 hp engine, up from 252 hp and 370 Nm. Those are stated gains for the engine type, not a measurement from your own car. For turbo engines the GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power.
Macan 2.0 TFSI: tuning box or flash remap?
A flash remap changes the factory calibration, while the GAN box leaves it alone and the engine's factory protections stay active. The 2018 2.0 TFSI with 245 hp has no row of its own in the Macan catalogue: the same engine is listed as the 2.0 TFSI of the Audi A4.
Will my insurer need to know about the tuning box?
Yes. In the UK a power increase counts as a modification, and insurers expect to be told about it before you drive with the box fitted. Each insurer handles it differently, so check with yours first and quote the before-and-after output from the table above.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
