Each engine has its own tuning box: GAN GT / GTL or GAN GA / GA+. Prices are per box and include the current discount.
Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone is not enough: in this generation, the same engine designation came in different power outputs, each with its own calibration. Check the power output in your registration document and find the matching row.

Volkswagen Golf VI remap: what changes
The GAN box plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals, while a flash remap rewrites the ECU itself. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the box can be removed at any time.

2.0 R 271 hp → 342 hp. The other engines gain at least +10 hp; check the table for each one.
- +89 Nmfor diesels
Diesels gain mostly torque: +61 to +89 Nm, which helps with overtaking and towing.

What makes the Volkswagen Golf VI special
VW Golf Mk6 remap and the TSI timing chain
On the Golf 6, Germany's ADAC singles out the timing chain as a weak point of two EA111 engines: the 1.2 TSI built from 2009 to 2012 and the 1.4 TSI built from 2008 to 2012. The GAN GT fits the 1.2 TSI at 86 and 105 hp and the 1.4 TSI at 160 hp. UK used-car guides also warn about chain and tensioner wear on the early 1.2 and 1.4 TSI, with a rattle on a cold start, so have it checked before you add boost.
GTI, Golf R and the diesels
The GTI is rated at 211 hp (code CCZB), the Edition 35 built from May 2011 to November 2012 at 235 hp, and the Golf R at 270 hp and 350 Nm with 4Motion. The R runs on the EA113 engine, and all three, the GTI, the Edition 35 and the R, take the GAN GT. The 1.6 TDI in 90 and 105 hp versions is a common rail diesel with a VTG turbine, and it also takes the GAN GT.
The GTD, at 170 hp and 350 Nm, uses the EA189, the diesel family covered by the recall the KBA ordered in October 2015. UK badges included S, SE, GT, Match, GTD, GTI, GTI Edition 35 and Golf R, with the hatchback in three- and five-door forms. On the EA189 1.6 TDI, EGR valve and cooler faults and limp mode are the usual worries at higher mileage, so have the engine's condition checked before you fit a box.
Volkswagen Golf VI remap: common questions
Golf Mk6 GTI remap: how much does the GAN GT add to the 211 hp car?
The GAN GT takes the GTI from 211 hp and 280 Nm to 275 hp and 381 Nm. It is rated at up to 30% more power, and these are catalogue gains for the engine type, not a dyno result for your car.
Will a tuning box get a Golf 6 1.6 TDI 105 up to 140 hp?
The catalogue puts the 1.6 TDI, at 105 hp and 250 Nm, at 136 hp and 325 Nm with the GAN GT. The GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power, and these are catalogue gains for the engine type, not a dyno result for your car. Your manufacturer's warranty is preserved, because the box never changes the ECU software and can be removed at any time.
Should I declare the GAN box to my insurer?
Tell them. A tuning box raises the output, and in Britain that is a declarable modification like any other performance change. Policies differ, so a quick call to your insurer before fitting is the safe route; the figures they will ask for are the stock and GAN outputs listed here.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 remap?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
